Daily Life Lesson 7: To Even Stumble on Something, You Have to Be Walking Somewhere
Dear Lord,
You are an awesome God, and You have answered every single one of my prayers exactly the way I would expect. Why, then, am I not where I want to be? The answer is very simple: I have not done my part. You are willing and able to do abundantly more than we could ever hope or imagine, but we must first do our part. You are a God of miracles, but You expect something from us. That something is action.
My friend Regina told me something many years ago that I will never forget. She said, “To even stumble on something, you have to be walking somewhere.” I often think about this when I am in my woe-is-me mood. When I have not achieved my goals, I have to ask myself if I “walked” anywhere that day. The answer is usually no.
Thank You for reminding me today and every day that You are my partner and You will always be by my side. You will never fail me, forsake me, or leave me. You are almighty God, and all things are possible with You.
Now when I am in a woe-is-me mood, I try to remember a line I read from an old devotional which says, “I am prayed up and prepared for a positive change!” Then I scream the words “I am excited!” over and over again until I actually start to believe it. This makes me smile, especially when I am driving down the freeway!
Thank You, Lord, for reminding me again just how powerful words are. You, Lord, are my partner. With You all things are possible. When I remember this, I can move on to the task at hand. I can focus on the action and leave the results up to You. I can then celebrate each outcome (positive or negative).
Thank You, Father, for keeping me focused on the things I need to do consistently. Les Brown, a motivational speaker, said on one of his CDs that all you can do is all you can do—just make sure you do all you can do. Thank You for reminding me that You have equipped me to do all I can do each day. Amen

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
—James 2:17
Write down one goal you have been trying to accomplish for a long time and have not reached.

Now write down three actions you can take to reach that goal.

Commit to spending at least ten minutes working toward that goal each day. Continue to pray as you walk toward your goal. God will be with you each step of the way!
