DISCOMFORT: A CHERISHED PLACE!
If we are going to understand the art of creation of money it would be silly for us not to start our study with the ultimate author of all wealth, beyond whom no man can ever get richer. He is introduced in Genesis chapter 1 as Our God. God is the ultimate mentor on wealth creation because he certainly has more than enough for all of us His creation.
So one may ask, “How did God “make it in life?” so to speak. “How did God get rich?” This is indeed a very good question. The Bible teaches silver and gold belong to Him So he must be rich! But how did this all come about?
Well, it may be hard to learn too much about God before the creation of the world, but if we were to draw a line to understand how God started his wealth creation path, the earliest we can start our study from is Genesis chapter 1. The Bible clearly shows that it was only until God had completed his seventh day of creation of the universe and all the wealth in it, that He saw that it was “very good” (Gen. 1:31). This passage would suggest to us that prior to creation, God was “uncomfortable” so to speak, with the state of the subsystem we live in today. Hidden in the text of this package, is one of the most important characteristics of a creator of wealth; the characteristic of discomfort with where you are. In other words, before God created, He was first uncomfortable with what He saw. Note that even while He was creating the universe, he was not comfortable and did not rest until after the seventh day. Then and only then does the Bible say that it was very good, thus painting a picture that the father of all wealth only got satisfied after his discomfort was quenched, so to speak.
What God is teaching us here about wealth is profound! God is teaching you and me that stagnation of wealth starts when one gets comfortable with where they are. On the contrary though, creation of wealth starts when one gets uncomfortable (or fed up) with where they are. I don’t care how rich or poor you are. The moment you get comfortable with where you are, what happens next is you lose your drive. This would then allow stagnation, or even possibly financial depreciation or financial death to begin kicking in. I, therefore, urge you that for as long as you still have breath in you, it is not yet time to get comfortable. The world needs you to maximize yourself. God wants you to be rich so he may use you as his wealth distribution centre. God wants you to have more than enough for yourself, in order to allow you to give back and add value to the universe. Would you say that you have achieved every financial dream you would have ever wanted to have in your life? If only you could take a step out of the box and see yourself in the eyes of the needs of others around you, I assure you that you will begin to see that you have a responsibility to have more than enough for yourself.
