Pastor Ernest stood next to the coffin and my family filled in the three reserved rows of chairs. It was so bright that I had to keep my sunglasses on. I was glad because my eyes were so red from all the crying and most importantly I could hide behind them. I knew it was only an illusion for truly no one can hide from the stark reality of death. The service started and I later learned that there was over one thousand people there. After Pastor read scriptures and prayed, we heard the bagpipes playing Amazing Grace. As the wind softly blew around us, the music seemed to float along with the breeze. The song was a temporary balm of relief to my soul. And in this short lived retreat from what was going on around me, I never wanted this time to end. It was the worst moment of my life, but right here I was next to my son's body for the last time on earth. I was not ready to move from this place. I thought of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and how she came to the cross where her son was dying. She stood there looking at her son. It was so horrible what she had to witness but she had to stay. She had to stay because that was her son. The one she held so close and loved. She had to stay because it involved her personally. The music faded away and silence fell upon us all.

About the Book
When my oldest son, Tony, was killed, I knew I desperately needed God. I felt lost. It was uncharted territory for me, and I needed guidance. About the Author
Sharon Capra wrote this book after suffering the loss of her son. She desperately wanted direction in her grief and recorded what she found on her journey of trusting God during her hardest time. She is the mother of twelve children and twenty grandchildren and lives with her husband and family in Virginia.
