Dare to Dream Again

If you’ve given up on a dream, I want to invite you to dismiss the doubts that say the dream is over. What is that promise God spoke to your heart? If you can recall it you can reclaim it. This opportunity is a gift. The odds may not be in your favor but God is in your favor. Dreams are at the center of any endeavor to make things better. So dare to dream again.

Be a daydreamer! You already have God’s permission. You say daydreaming is for kids. All of us are just God’s kids anyway. Some of your childhood dreams may have been crushed by the harsh realities of life or lies told to you by critics or accusers, but God wants to breathe on all of that harshness with the wind of His Spirit and bring new life to those old bones, broken by those sticks and stones or every one of those crushing blows.

Beyond Inspiration

What is the real value of a daydream? We go about our everyday lives wishing things could be better. We hope that our hard work makes a difference and those loved ones who came before us are made proud by our efforts. We imagine for our children to have more than what we were given. Yet, as noble as our best efforts are, we all long for something more. And so we daydream of what could be possible.

Then the value of the daydream appears. The ones that ignite creative expressions of art and beauty are immensely valuable. Ideas that inspire the blank canvass of life to flow with color and genius are valuable. The sounds and sights of music and drama that fill the atmosphere with pause and awe are valuable. The photos and the films, the songs and the sculptures, the breakthroughs and the brave hearts, the activists and the advocates, the potential and the possible all fill our worlds with immeasurable worth. I believe daydreamers are not just esteemed, they are essential.

The incredible potential deposited into your life when you were created, paired with the omnipotence of a creative God, is a perfect recipe for accomplishment. The goal of a dream must go beyond inspiration otherwise it’s just a fantasy. The end result of a God dream is fulfillment. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God.” Romans 8:28 (NKJV) Your daydream can help you look beyond the potential to the possible. So let God work out all the details, everything required to bring you into all of the good purposed for you.

Let your dream become your drive. Don’t drive it. You may be the only person, who can see it now, but it will happen. Don’t try and force it. Don’t forget that this is not a natural dream; it’s a supernatural dream. It’s not all on you to make it happen. You don’t have to fake it, where all of the inspiration and initiation rests solely on your shoulders. Nope, nada, nein, no way, José. When God provides you with His promise, He will also lead you to His plan. This inspired belief becomes inspired boldness. Blind faith is not part of the equation at all. Daydreamers see stuff already; the blinders are off. You are not in the dark guesstimating, you are in the light contemplating. Daydreamers already can envision the possibilities. It is a real faith, not a blind faith. Faith that exists, that trusts, based on what you already believe to be true. That’s why we have this Scripture text: “No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this, Never so much as imagined anything quite like it—What God has arranged for those who love him. But you’ve seen and heard it because God by his Spirit has brought it all out into the open before you.” 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (MSG) Don’t close your eyes; it’s time to dream wide awake.
