One single jack is at the heart of the virtual nature of theo-metrics and making a personal and practical 3-D assessment of where you will be when you get where you are going. The three axes (X, Y, and Z) of each jack allow connections to be arrayed all over them in matrix fashion to represent key relationships in life.
Paul likes directional metaphors like breadth, length, height, and depth too. These little toy jacks come to mind as I read about his illustrations.
Likewise, Paul also used dimensional words that are aligned with discovering these dynamics at work on our lifeline. Look closely below for the three theo-metric axes of life for the things that can hang on the good (Y), bad (X), and ugly (Z) axes. Also, see how they dynamically interact to connect and relate to Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit (Figure 4).
Ok, the hard part is over. So now examine your own personal tension area and start making your own personal theo-metric assessment of your lifeline, you know it better than anyone. Succeeding chapters will lay down more detailed matrix modeling points to assist you with structure and help make personal considerations and decisions.

Theo-metrics Defined
In making a precisely defined, personal Theo-metric assessment, we should:
1 Adhere to a set of properties for a particular communication path,
2 Construct a definite abstract for the notion of distance in a metric space, and
3 Measure the dynamics acting on our souls—attributed to God, Satan, and earthly factors related
to decisions, activities, and performance.
About the Author
Jesse W. “Bill” Addison is a hospital chaplain; he was ordained and commissioned by the Southern Baptist Convention and the North American Mission Board, respectively.
Bill graduated with a degree in business management from Texas State University in 1968. Following graduation, he volunteered for service as a United States Marine. Bill completed Officer Candidate School in 1969 and went on to perform duties as a logistics and data systems officer. He retired from active duty in 1991 as a lieutenant colonel. Bill distinguished himself during his military service with a United States Navy commendation medal and two United States meritorious service medals.
Bill served the State of Texas for a total of thirteen years in Austin, conducting multiple audits of agency-wide programs and performing managerial duties within state agencies. Along the way, he also completed an accounting degree from Park University and a master’s in business management and accounting from National University. He earned five professional managerial, accounting, and auditing certifications before answering God’s long-standing call to ministry.
Following the loss of his first wife, Judy, to breast cancer in 2003, Bill attended Memphis Theological Seminary, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2007 with a master of divinity. He then served as a chaplain in two VA hospitals. Now retired, he serves as a part-time volunteer hospital chaplain in the Houston area and fulfills pulpit supply opportunities for churches in the greater Houston area. He teaches an in-depth weekly men’s Bible study in a large Harris-Montgomery County neighborhood community, and he also serves as a guest lecturer for colleges, organizations, and churches. Bill has two married daughters and three grandchildren. His second wife, Christi, has two children and five grandchildren.
