For some time, I had wondered and tried to figure out just why we are to pray ‘in Jesus name”. Well, finally today on 7/13/2010, God had me on my knees and made me see (gradually and patiently) why we pray “in Jesus name”. He rolled it out and made it plain to me. He went on to show me that there is POWER in His name; then God revealed to me that there is AUTHORITY in Jesus’ name – just as He spoke when He was among us on earth spreading the gospel (I was thinking, “O.K… O.K… I’m getting it). Then God helped me further by providing a comparison or an analogy: What if I pray in the name of or on behalf of a school or did something to represent a school it would be in their name and for their purpose; therefore, in their honor. I continued to be in awe as I was telling Him, Ohhhhh…I really get it now”. So, we pray “in Jesus name” because of who God made Jesus in heaven and in earth- just as He was and is the Lamb that took away the sins of the world. We also pray “in Jesus name” because He intercedes on our behalf and he has POWER; AUTHORITY; and PURPOSE. WOW!!!!!! He had never broken the meaning of Jesus’ name down to me in this way before – maybe because I had not asked Him to and maybe because I was not ready to receive it. God continued to reveal to me at a later time that the POWER immersed in His name is “to get ‘IT’ done”; the AUTHORITY is representative of the authority Jesus has over the enemy; and PURPOSE is making salvation available to all –in Jesus name. This was all given to me as I was still
embracing and trying to continuously absorb and understand all of this meaning in His name Jesus. To God be the glory! To God be the glory, in Jesus’ precious name. Praises to the name that represents all POWER, AUTHORITY, DOMINION, and PURPOSE in heaven and in earth. And this is all because Jesus goes unto our Father on our behalf. Hallelujah and Amen, in Jesus name.
