Journey from Heartache to Hope

Introduction

Emotional pain is one of the most misunderstood emotions in the human race. If you have not experienced it, it is a foreign concept. If you have experienced pain, it is inconceivable that you will ever find healing. Few people know how to respond to the pain of another or how to cope when we feel it ourselves. We frequently avoid those who are hurting because of our lack of knowledge. We feel abandoned when we find ourselves in the position of needing comfort because others don’t know how to react to our emotions. Where can you find solace, spiritual guidance, and education? Where do we find God in all that we are experiencing? 

It is important that people who are in need of healing find a place that has the necessary tools to assist them in moving past the pain. We are frequently asked for clarification as to the purpose of this ministry. We can explain what our mission, vision, and values statements are but more information and clarification is often required for true understanding to take place. Perhaps you who are reading this introduction need more information as well. 

The greatest loss one can experience is the loss of a loved one, a pain that is not imaginable until we experience it in our own lives. This is a loss that can affect every aspect of our lives and can frequently lead to deep depression and anxiety as unresolved issues go with us from year to year. Where do we go? What do we do? Should we suffer alone to spare others from pain, or should we seek assistance for this life-changing event? 

Spiritual Care Support Ministries is here to bring understanding, hope, spiritual guidance, and support to those suffering loss in their lives. We are here to support those who come to us until they make the decision to begin living again because they have found purpose. 

 We are not an addiction center, although we know of centers that specialize in treating those with addictions. However, we can help those who are journeying with those suffering from addiction. We are able to assist family members who have experienced losses due to the addictions that have affected their lives. 

We are not a marriage counseling center. However, we do help couples who are having marriage difficulties due to past losses in their lives. 

We work with children six years and older who have had losses, but we are not able to help children who have been diagnosed with emotional or learning disabilities, etc. We do, however, work with the family members affected by these disabilities that may cause the loss of positive hope for their child’s future and negatively affect their family relationships. 

We assist clients experiencing job loss, loss of health, loss of identity, infidelity, loss due to miscarriage and still births, loss of dreams, loss of friendships, financial loss, and the list goes on. 

The stories contained here are true and written by the individuals affected. These stories portray pain that at times seems unbearable but nonetheless portray the experiences of the writers, individuals who have journeyed from heartache to hope.

God has called us to this very specific ministry where we provide support and education to those who are ill, dying, experiencing grief and personal losses, and those who are journeying with them. We are called to equip and train others so they can effectively bring emotional assistance and guidance to others. That is our calling, and I am so thankful to the eighty Spiritual Care Support Ministries volunteers who understand what we do and are a part of this ministry.
