As my eyes cleared the first thing I noticed was color – brilliant color everywhere. Color so brilliant and clear that it took my eyes several minutes to adjust to the brightness. I slowly turned my head and looked around. I was sitting in a meadow on the edge of a huge lake. The blue of the sky was reflected off the surface of the water and sparkled as it moved. To the right of the lake I could see huge mountains that rose to breathtaking heights, their peaks covered with snow and glistening in the bright light. A thick forest of trees covered the base of the mountain, huge billowing clouds unfurled in wave after wave of fluffy whiteness around the highest peaks. I focused on the clouds and saw that they were tinted with hues of violet and green and blue that blended and moved together as I watched! Vibrant fields of green rolled on and on for miles to my left. What was I seeing? The only thing I could think of was that I must be in some kind of an oasis in the middle of the desert, but how I had stumbled, or fallen into it, I didn’t know. I wasn’t even sure where camp was anymore, in fact, I wasn’t even sure where I was.

About the Author
Kathy Harksen has spent most of her adult life working in various forms of ministry such as coordinating and teaching Bible Studies for children and adults; working with recovery ministries; and co-founding a beautifully thriving Women’s Ministry - Shattered Hearts Restored. She is passionate about her faith and her family. She loves horses and animals and all of the beauty found in God’s creation.
