Story synopsis for: Lessons in Farm Life
This book is made up of stories taken from some of the many experiences we have gone through as hobby farmers over the past several years. They include tales of cows, sheep, turkeys, chickens, dogs and horses. We started out over twenty years ago as novice hobby farmers and through those years have learned many lessons in living life on a farm. My original purpose in writing this book was to have something tangible- with life experiences, along with spiritual lessons derived from them, in order to pass down to our families. As I got further on in my writings, relating the many spiritual applications that could be taken from these stories, I realized that they could be a great encouragement to many other Christians as well, especially considering some heart-wrenching occurrences within our family before I had completed the writing of this book.
I had come to the point of thinking I was finished with this book in the fall of 2011 when something happened that was totally unexpected; something truly terrible that I never dreamed could have happened within our own family. I guess we should always be prepared for the unexpected, thankful to realize that our God is in control and He is working out his purpose and plan through all the circumstances of our lives- good or bad. Through the process of all that has gone on- we have been encouraged to pray more fervently for each of our families and for others that we know of who are also going through difficult times. Even though there has been much heart-ache in recent years, our Lord has blessed us with much joy as well. God is so good. He will not give His children more than we can handle.
I have actually been working on a second edition of Lessons in Farm Life and my hope and prayer is that God will bring about much healing and reconciling of so many relationships before this book is finished. I would love to be able to integrate the joy of such answered prayers within this second edition. My husband and I have actually been praying for the past several years for revival within the hearts of God's people of this area and even though we do not know if this is His plan- (for we cannot presume upon our Lord); we continue to pray in faith believing that he can and will do this. We will persist in fervent prayer for a major work of His Holy Spirit in the hearts and lives of so many that He has burdened us with, knowing that if it is His will for revival to take place that we will receive the request we ask of him. God is faithful and he will do as He has promised- working all things together for the good of those who love Him and for the glory of His most holy name.
