Introduction

Deuteronomy 14:2 says, “Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.”

You are a special treasure. The King has chosen you. May you experience His unconditional love and allow Him to embrace you in His loving arms to comfort you always. I pray that the words of each devotion will penetrate your heart and spirit.

As you discover these jewels of truth in your moment of reflection, may you experience peace and joy. Precious you are, my dearly beloved. You are unique and wonderfully made in His image. God makes no mistakes!

God Is Making You His Precious Jewel

“The Lord their God will save his people on that day as a shepherd saves his flock. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown” (Zech. 9:16).

Jewels are precious things; the Hebrew word for jewels means “a treasure.” To God, we are His jewels, His own special treasure. We begin as a gem in the rough until we are purified and tested through our trials. We are being polished and smoothed into godly character.

God is the master diamond and gem cutter. He refines us to become the following:

1. Jewels for their sparkling quality

2. Jewels for their price

3. Jewels for their beauty

Ask yourself this question: do you see yourself as God’s special treasure or His jewel? You should because we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and His own special treasure.

God’s Treasure

God is making His precious jewels! You are one of them. When facing trials, do we first think to ask God to end this pain, or do we cry out and ask Him to finish in us what He started? He who has begun a good work will bring it to completion. Life is precious. Our choices lead us into paths of blessing or curses. Choose to live to obey and serve the mighty King. Your life will be fruitful and multiplied back. In this world, when we talk of jewels in conversations, we think of diamonds, precious pearls, gemstones, and so on. Our spiritual treasures are stored up indeed. Splendor, there is! The Bible speaks of treasures of precious stones and of a new capital of the world, the New Jerusalem, which will come down from heaven. The prophet Malachi wrote of this spiritual treasure in Malachi 3:16–17. Read this verse in your favorite version!

We must see our royalty in Him and know that we are infinitely more precious in the eyes of God. As we go through life, especially in our trials, we are to bear one another’s burden and pray for each other.

Ask God to guide you in His counsel and wisdom and lead you to glory! That’s our future, our destiny. When God sees us, does He see His reflection in us?
