Let me introduce myself. My name is Casey Jett. My friends call me CJ. I’m ten years old and just getting ready to start the fifth grade. I live in the small town of Wilson, Tennessee. For the most part I’m your normal ten-year-old boy. I like to play sports, play outside, play video games, and I like to read some. I even go to church with my parents every week. Ok, that one is not always by choice, but I like it most of the time.
I know you’re probably asking yourself what makes me so special. You probably think I have a boring life, but that would be far from the truth! I will tell you what makes me different. I’m a dreamer! Ok, I know most ten-year-old kids dream a lot and have a big imagination, but my dreams are so real that I call them adventures. My adventures don’t just happen during one night of dreaming. Not even close! They can go on for days or even weeks before they’re finished.
My dreams just continue on from bed, to daydreaming at school, or basically anytime I might zone out, which seems to happen a lot. My dreams have all sorts of people in them. The people in my dreams are often people that I come across during the day. There are two people that are always in my adventures. They are my best friends, Alex and Nash.
Alex, Nash, and I have lived on the same street our whole lives. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know the two of them. Alex is taller and stockier than me and Nash. He is probably the stronger of us and more athletic. That’s not to say Nash and I aren’t strong and athletic. Ok, so we aren’t that strong and we’re probably not that athletic. Nash is the fastest of the three of us though, which is good since he has a habit of saying things to get some people mad at him. I think Nash is very funny too! Alex and Nash are the two best friends anyone could have!!
Since I’ve told you a little about me, let me introduce my parents. Like most parents, they aren’t perfect, but I think they’re pretty great! My mom is the more serious and responsible one. She is a marketing director at a big company. She’s very smart and hard working. She’s a caring mom, but can be strict when it comes to chores and homework. My mom is always telling me to “get my head out of the clouds.” She says if I’m going to make it in this world, I need to quit daydreaming and study harder in school. She’s probably right, but I’m having way too much fun dreaming right now!
My dad thinks it is perfectly healthy to dream as long as I keep my grades up. My dad is a writer so in his job it’s important to have a good imagination. He also likes to hear about my dreams. He even uses some of the things from my dreams in his books. Most adults think that when you get my age you should start to grow up and plan for the future. But, my dad says, “stay young as long as you can and live for today!” That’s probably why my dad is in most of my dreams. Don’t get me wrong, my mom is great too! She is the “grounded one” as she puts it. I hope when I grow up that I can be a little like both of my parents.
Now that I’ve told you a little about myself and those closest to me, let’s see what other cool people we can meet, and what awesome adventures we can have.
