Have you ever wondered who you are and why you are here? Have you sometimes felt like you were different?
I have. As a young Christian in ministry, I struggled with my sense of identity and purpose. I know there are a lot of books out there written on “purpose.” My intention is not to repeat or compete with what’s already out there. Instead, in this book I have shared my struggles, along with some truths the Lord has given to help me overcome those struggles.
When I struggled with my purpose, it resulted in rejection and low self-esteem. These two are closely related; often rejection damages our self-esteem and that in turn leads to more rejection.
But if you know your purpose—who you are and why you are here—then self-esteem is no longer an issue. You begin to discover your unique qualities and gifts, who you are called to be and what you are called to do, and you begin to accept and love yourself, because you are BEAUTIFUL.
I started work on this book with the idea of encouraging young women. At the time, I was given a new way to look at the word “beautiful.” We’ve all had so much pressure on us to focus on external beauty. However, I now understand that beauty is not based on material things. Nor is it about changing who you are. It is all about you just being YOU to the fullest: Be-YOU-to-FULL!
A butterfly begins life as an egg. You would hardly hear anyone gasp with admiration when looking at the egg of a butterfly. You probably wouldn’t hear them saying how beautiful the larva is, either. Some might also be grossed out by the pupa, wrapped up and hidden away while the caterpillar undergoes its transformation. But after that butterfly fully develops, “beautiful” comes to mind all the time. So it is with us.
We go through many stages, and some may be nicer than others. But ultimately, “beautiful” is about you being all you can be as the one God created you to be. It’s not about trying to be someone else. Only you can be you!

About the Author
Ayileru Morton was born in Nigeria and has been devoted to the Lord for over 25 years. Serving in various leadership capacities since her youth, she has helped to develop churches and new ministries in both Nigeria and the United States. Having struggled to find her place in life, Ayileru now works to help others realize their full potential. She holds an MBA from the University of New Haven and currently serves alongside her husband, Bishop Richard Morton Jr., Pastor of Family Christian Center COG. They are blessed with two wonderful children, Richard and Stephen.
