“So, you didn’t hear me in class this morning and you wanted me to repeat myself.” Jerome says loud enough for everyone nearby to hear. I glance around the hall to see if there are some teachers nearby. There are, but they are farther down the hall. I see Jazmyn stand up straighter and look Jerome in the eye. But she doesn’t say anything. She just stands there as if she is waiting for him to continue. I move through the growing crowd to get closer to her. I don’t know what’s about to happen, but I want to be there for whatever did.

About the Book
Home is less than great. Junior high school is awful. Daijha’s mom is rarely around, leaving Daijha alone and afraid. School should be an escape from her loneliness, but instead, it is a daily torment Daijha endures that further isolates her.
Things begin to change when J enrolls in school. She has sass and confidence … and a whole bunch of extra weight! How can she be so confident, looking the way that she does? Is it real, or is she faking? Where does it come from?
J is not at all intimidated and has an inner strength Daijha knows not of. She stands up for herself and shows Daijha a thing or two in the process.
About the Author
C. Angel grew up in Ohio and currently resides in a suburb of Columbus with her three children and puppy. Books have always been a form of immense enjoyment and escape for her, from picking a corner and reading for hours as a young child in a library to curling up on the couch with a book and a nice blanket as an adult. She is a licensed history teacher by trade and an author by choice. Daijha Road is her first published work.
