Psalms 145:6 Message Bible Your marvelous doings are headline news; I could write a book full of the details of your greatness.
One day as I was reading the Bible I came across the above scripture and it jumped off the page at me. On that day, God touched my heart and gave me the desire to write this book. The sole purpose of this book is to let the world know that God is good and how He has blessed me. I look back over my life and see how He has saved me from death, how He has performed miracles in my life and how He has showed His love towards me. I want the world to know His goodness and tell my testimony so that it will help someone find Him, get closer to Him, and develop a deeper, more meaningful relationship with Him. In this book, I want to share what I have learned about God and what He has done for me. Some of the names of God I have taken from a red book entitled Prayers by Christian Word Ministries. I will give a name of God and provide a scripture to go along with it. I will share my stories, thoughts and revelations received from God pertaining to each name. Each Scripture reveals God’s character. As you read this book I want you to identify with God’s character and begin to live out your life in a godly, Christ like way. God’s Word says that we are made in the image of God and that we should become Christ like; therefore, I hope this book will introduce some to God, and help others develop a closer relationship with Him . I share what He has done for me on any given day throughout the years of my life. These events, thoughts and revelations are not in any particular order. I am just sharing them as God puts them on my heart. I want you to know God has done so much for me. I hope by reading this book you will come to know that God will do for you what He has done for me and continues to do. I want you to be willing to accept Jesus Christ, as your Lord and Savior, be willing to read God’s Word more often, have a more committed relationship with Him and be more obedient to His Word. I hope that my stories, thoughts and revelations help you somehow. So let’s get started, shall we!
Abba
Romans 8:15 NLT So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, “Abba Father.”
Abba is an Aramaic word which means daddy or Papa. Some people are uncomfortable calling God daddy. They feel to call Him daddy is not reverencing His name. Some have had a very bad relationship with their earthly fathers and can’t bring themselves to call God daddy. Others have no problem calling God daddy. Jesus called God “Abba Father” in Mark 14:36. “Abba Father,” He cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” I believe if Jesus called His Heavenly Father, “Daddy”; then I believe we can call Him “Daddy.” The entertainer, Beyonce sings a song called “Daddy” from the Tyler Perry movie, Daddy’s Little Girls soundtrack. In the song she describes how her earthly father loves her and how much she appreciates him. As I listen to the words of that song it describes my relationship with my Heavenly Father. In the chorus it says “…there is no one else like my Daddy and I thank you for loving me.” That one sentence describes my God to me. There is no one else like the all powerful Creator of the universe and I am so thankful for everything He does for me. So whether you call Him “Daddy” or not, you must always approach Him with reverence, honor, and respect. God is Holy. He is to be approached with the utmost respect but you can also approach Him as your intimate Father (Daddy) He loves you so much. He is merciful but He is also a Father who will chastise His children because He does love us so much. So be a good little girl or boy!
