Winter set in with a vengeance bringing continuous snow storms and bitter howling winds. Huge drifts of snow muffled the sounds of the forest and on these rare quiet days, Amanda Jane would stand under the old pint tree and lean against its rough bark and listen for sounds of Thomas.
She was amazed at the spiritual presence she felt here alone high in the mountains. The nights were long and terrifying as the pack of wolves howled their mournful chilling wail and began coming closer to the cabin. In the daylight she went into the forest to gather wood. Thomas would not want to let their wood supply to get low. She carried her gun now as more tracks were seen closer to the cabin.
She tried her best to be strong but the silence deepened and she longed to hear the sound of any human voice.

About the Book
