It was 5:30 AM, and I was not happy to be awaken by the caller, so I hung up on her, but she persistently called again saying that she had a very important message for me. What she told me sent shock waves through my entire body. My sister told me that she received a text from God with the warning “whatever you do today do not go to your friends Jasmine house, because her boyfriend is going to drug you in your coffee and then rape you.” I was appalled by that message and also astonished because my caller did not know that I had plans to go to Jasmine’s home that morning. But Jasmine was a very good friend, so how could that be? Was she aware of this?
While I mused about this situation and what I should do, I got a call from Jasmine telling me that she and her boyfriend were on their way and she was bringing me my favorite drink, coffee. Why were they coming – the plan was that I would go to her house on my way to work. I took my child to school and as I got to the train station I saw them, but they did not see me. I jumped on the first train that came, but this train was going in the opposite direction of my job. When I finally got off the train, I simply walked around for hours in the cold, as this was November, before getting on another train heading home. By then I was very upset because I had to call out from work, and I was running around like a fugitive in the cold. With much ostentation and determination I decided to go home and I will deal with the situation. As I was walking towards my apartment building, I saw Jasmine, with coffee in hand, and her boyfriend in front of my building waiting for me. I was shaken by this, because this drama started to unfold around 7:30AM and it was now 2:30PM. I was cold, tired and furious, so I went to the nearby park to sit down, as I contemplate what to do.
What happened next was like something out of a movie, I saw a police car driving down my block and stopped in from of my building, the police officers got out and hand cuffed both Jasmine and her boyfriend and drove off with them. My mind was racing, and my body was shaking! Who called the cops? Why were they arrested? Later on I received a called from Jasmine’s mother, informing me that her daughter and her boyfriend were in jail. Cocaine was found in the boyfriend’s possession. The case went to trial and Jasmine was sentenced to six months and the boyfriend one year in prison.
This incident showed me the power of divine intervention, and the love God had for me. You see, dear readers if this evil plan was allow to take place it would have been a terrible setback for me. As a victim of sexual abuse so many times in the past, I had reached a critical point in my life. But today I give much praise and thanks to the God who delivers, because I am no longer a victim but a survivor.
Never forget through all our supplication and prayers that our Heavenly Father surely hears, He knows and He answers. When it seems that you cannot stand and no hope is shown, do not doubt, because he would not put more on you than you can bear. He will give you the strength to persevere. Sometimes things may seem so difficult, just hold on to the calm assurance that Our Father does deliver. Just like Daniel in the lion’s den, He will rescue you. Trials will come and trials deeper yet, but God delivers. “Fear not when you pass through the water, I will be with you.” The times you spend waiting in the darkness of your troubles, will one day be rewarded by the Father of Light. Sometimes God delivers us from our troubles and sometimes He delivers us through our troubles.
