The Reflection in the Mirror
Becoming the woman that God has called you to be is an exciting adventure. Whether you are beginning the journey for the first time, or have the desire for a more intimate relationship with your Creator…get ready for the most exhilarating experience of your life! As you begin to seek God’s plan and purpose for your life…everything will change. Your priorities, ideals, goals, expectations, and plans will become more aligned with God’s purpose and His plan. The more you seek God and spend time in His presence, the more you will begin to understand His Will for your life. It truly will be the greatest adventure you have ever embarked on, the journey that will never end.
God has a purpose for your life, He has had a plan since the day you were conceived. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, relinquish all your fears and give God your availability. Be like Isaiah, “Here I am, send me.” God’s timing may not always be aligned with our expectations, His ways are not our ways; however, He will always show up just in time! He will meet you where you are and take you to where He wants you to be. God is a loving and faithful Father who will never leave you or forsake you, even when you feel the world is closing in and your hope has diminished.
When you find yourself lost among the bad decisions, actions, behavior and failures of your life, look to God. He is waiting with open arms to take you out of your current circumstances and place you in His “Plan Be” where you will find His grace, mercy and forgiveness. God uses our failures, bad decisions, and insufficiencies as opportunities for growth that will shout the glory of God when we are delivered, re-directed and restored. When God begins taking your life to new levels in Him, people will begin to notice the change and will want to know more about your Lord. This provides you an opportunity to share what God has given you, brought you through, and delivered you from, with others in their time of need.
As we embark on the journey to “become” all that God has for us to be, we need to spend time reading our instruction manual in Romans chapter 12. Be joyful in the hope that we have in Jesus Christ, for He has overcome the world. We need to assess our lives on a regular basis to ensure that we are living examples of the “Be Attitudes” that Paul teaches us to be. We need to reach out to the hurting, broken and the lost with our time, our love and acceptance. We need to be a lighthouse; living our lives as a beacon pointing the lost to Jesus Christ. We never know when the storms of life will toss someone in our path who is shipwrecked and desperately needs to meet the Master of their seas.
“Becoming” is simply building a relationship with God that will change our lives forever. Relationships are only as strong as the effort put into them. We need to work on our relationship with our Heavenly Father on a daily basis. He waits, as any parent does, to hear about our day. He wants to know what has given us joy, and what is causing us pain. He wants us to ask Him for His blessings and provision, even though He already knows our needs. God wants to be the number one priority in our lives.
As the world continues to spin violently out of control, we find our lives filled with more noise than ever before. We juggle our careers, families, marriage, children and social schedules on a daily basis. By evening, we find ourselves trying to unwind, hoping to regain the strength to do it all over again tomorrow. In the remaining moments of the evening we feel the tugging at our heart….”I miss my time with you”, God says. “Do you have any time left for me… I've been waiting for you.”
We need to begin to re-evaluate our lives; aligning our priorities, assessing our values, defining the unwanted noise, and making the needed adjustments. It is time for us to begin living by God’s expectations instead of trying to satisfy the never ending desires of the world. We need to free our families from the world’s grasp and get back to the basics with God.
If you struggle with noise from your past… a haunting voice that tries to pull you backwards, continually reminding you of your failures….give the battle to God. Don’t carry around the baggage that weighs you down and hinders you from becoming what God has planned for your life. Leave the bags that carry your past failures, defeats, sins, hurts and brokenness at the feet of Jesus. Begin living your life forward and never look back. When the enemy tries to send you to the baggage claim department to retrieve your past…. tell him that it is covered by the blood of Jesus Christ and has been tossed into the sea. No longer do you have any baggage, bondage, sin, fears, or regrets…..the chains have been broken and you are free!
We have been given the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Our God, the creator of this world, knew from the beginning of time that we would need a savior. He sent His Son into the world not to condemn the world, but that through Him the world might be saved (John 3:16-17). For this reason, we should be overflowing with praise and worship for our Lord!
We were created to worship God in spirit and in truth; we are His true worshipers. When we take time to worship God for who He is and what He has done in our lives, we begin to change. Our attitudes become more aligned with God’s principles, our hearts become more compassionate, and we desire true intimacy with Him. Spending time in the presence of God is something beyond what words can possibly describe. I encourage you to begin spending time with Him; your life will never be the same.
Becoming what God has called you to be is a rewarding journey that never ends. Every day as you look in the mirror and see His reflection of love in your eyes…..His joy in your smile…His glory on your countenance….you will understand the rewards of serving our Creator, Our God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Become more than you ever thought was possible…let the adventure begin!
