Preface
It has taken me many years to compile the contents of this book - and another year before a seed of an idea was finally formed into what I believe is a tree of wisdom contained within its pages.
In the final stages of preparing this book my focus was on finding the title as I wrestled internally to discover an appropriate heading. I knew that no matter how good the contents are of any book, it is the title that can often be the one thing that will separate it from the millions of titles that flood the market. It is the title that will take this humble morsel of my brain and my heart and deliver it to a new readership - people all over the world - people of many tongues and many languages. It is the title that will impact their life and grab their attention amidst this media and information driven age. Then once grasped - it is the internal words that will then change the way they live - if they choose to apply these wise words to their lives.
As a general rule I think positive and have only positive dreams, but as I slept tonight I had a confronting dream. A horrible dream in fact.
Here is my dream...
I had been summoned to meet someone who, even though I had never met them in person, I instinctively knew that they were involved in the publishing industry. I found myself waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting as I watched that very same person slink off into a room where I knew that somewhat sordid activities were taking place. Hours passed and they still didn't come out to meet me. So I wandered up to the building, into which they had entered, and peeked under the door. Sure enough there were things going on in there that left me speechless, and I cannot write about it.
I was shocked as I returned from whence I'd just come. I was enraged. I was outraged. So I turned on my heel and burst open the door, alarming everyone who was in that room, as I demanded that wisdom should prevail, and that they should stop whatever they were doing.
Amidst the ensuing raucous there was a woman who came over to me, took me by the arm and walked me across the room where there, before my eyes, were thousands upon thousands of books shelved on the adjacent wall. In reflection I now know that her name was Wisdom. She picked one. She turned to me and whispered, 'Have this one. This is the one for you.'
Some of those who had been in that room then assured me, as I left, that they would soon follow me. And it was at that very moment that I woke up with the phrase yelling in my mind: 'If we screw each other, we're all screwed’. There was the missing title. And the book that I had just been given by Wisdom herself was 'a book on getting earthly wisdom'.

Introduction
As an avid reader of positive material over the years I have devoured thousands upon thousands of quotations written by the sages that span centuries.
At some point I realised that I was ready to add my own personal twist to these age-old concepts so that they would have relevance in my day and age and to this generation.
So within these pages I have compressed over five decades of tried and tested wisdom into short, concise and easily digestible phrases. Each has been designed for immediate application to your life. Some would call them quotes. I call them liquid gold.
Covering subjects as diverse as tattoos to social media, from fear to love and hundreds more, all have been administered with a dose of love.
For it is a well-documented fact that to make a success in life, and to have successful relationships in this world, one must acquire and administer earthly wisdom.
