Down through the ages there have been men and women of faith who have lived in the midst of their worn and broken circumstances and environments. Many individuals God has moved beyond the weary and broken pieces of their lives and on to a new horizon or beginning. All have acquired a strengthened heart for God; all have at some point turned to their Redeemer God with a humbled heart and a spirit of thankfulness based on gratitude. All have been shakers of the dust that could have encased them. Their focus has been on Christ and how He can be glorified though their “less than favorable” life circumstance(s). Their lives serve as examples for us today. Many men and women of faith have their life journey documented for us in God’s Word, the Holy Bible. Men and women, individuals like you and me, who have stood strong, empowered by the Holy Spirit and the love of Jesus Christ to make a difference on this journey called life. How were they able to shake off the dust, those broken pieces that could have left them weary and worn, tired and downtrodden? How were they able to rise above those moments in life when the going got tough? How did they know when and where to shake off the dust of the negative choices that could have encumbered and sadly defined their character for the rest of their life journey? How did they know when to stay or when to move on at the bidding of their Heavenly Father? How did they graciously and effectively live through the storms of life when the raging sea did not calm down around them?
Together let’s take the opportunity to look at several men and women of faith to observe, study and reflect on their focus, trust, obedience and faith in Jesus Christ to discover how their daily choices built their character and strengthened them to remain secure in their commitment and worship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Here’s to shaking the dust and the icy darkness in our own lives, so that the worn and broken pieces can fall off and His light can shine brilliantly on the hillside for all to see the glory of the risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom we love and serve on this earthly journey called life!
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp,
and put it under the peck-measure, but on the lampstand; and it gives light to all who are at home.
Let your light so shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works,

I am defined by the love and grace of my Creator God, who is made known to me through the power of the Holy Spirit, found only in Jesus Christ, who is God’s only Son and my Savior and Lord!
