Lord, help me. I can’t move. Please Lord; let Roy see me, let Momma see me. I need help, I can’t move
It was our family reunion, July 2004 in Cleveland, Ohio…and I was sitting in the park bored to tears. Some of my family members were jump roping, so I decided to join in. I was beginning to have fun.
There were family members at each end of the rope. As they began to turn the rope I proceeded to jump in singing, “Mable! Mable, set the table, don’t forget the RED HOT PEPPER.”
As the family members turned the rope faster and faster I knew that this was going to be difficult for me, because I had been experiencing lower back pains. As I jumped up, I felt pain in my lower back, and realized that I was in trouble. I came down hard, flat on my feet. As I landed, I heard a POP and felt a warm sensation go through my back. The pain was so excruciating; the warm sensation began to radiate a hot searing flame in my joints, and fear began to grip me.
In my mind I screamed, Roy where are you? Momma where are you? Can’t you see that I’m in trouble? Lord, please help me!

Cancer survivor of 9 years Patricia Phillips Roberts is a singer, song writer, author, speaker, and the First Lady of World Highway Ministries, where her husband Roy M. Roberts Sr., is the pastor. She has a passion for women and serves as a mentor for many, teaching and leading them….Married forty-four years, Patricia and her husband have five children and six grandchildren. They reside in Southern California.
