Sleeping with The Enemy
A catchy phrase like ‘sleeping with the enemy” may send the mind of many into thinking of husbands and wives being enemies of one another, yet sleeping together. Even if this is true in some cases, most of them would never be enemies to one another if they knew who the real enemy was, the invisible entity who seem to throw bricks, then hides his hand.
The idea of this book is to expose such invisible entities, or spiritual influences that is working behind the scenes in the life of every human being. The Bible calls them principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. (Eph. 6:12)
These enemies aren't new. They manifested in heaven before the creation of man. (Is. 14:12) One of the schemes in their activities is to lie on God, (Gen. 3:4) and bring shame on man (Gen. 3:10).
*Man was still in the infancy of his creative being when he was tricked into fearing his best friend, [God], his creator, and to blame others for his mistakes. [as in Adam’s phrase, “the woman that you gave me”.]
Similarly, are we in the infancy of our natural lives when we are babes. even as unborn babies and children, when unclean spirits invade our being. As if the spirit of fear doesn't come soon enough, we are taught to fear. First to fear our parents, when they dare us to do certain things with the threat of spanking us for doing them.
We teach ourselves to lie, either for fear of getting a whipping, or the fear of being told no we can’t do this, or can’t have that, etc. Not realizing that fear is a spirit, lying is a spirit and neither of them are of God.
Just as Adam and Eve were open to unwanted entities in their infancy as created beings, so are we opened to the same type of spirits in the infancy of our childhood.
By the time many of us become adults, we may be loaded with a variety of ungodly invaders which seek to acquire physical bodies in order that Satan may carry out his plan to imitate God. (Mt. 12: 43-45)
In the Old Testament, the people of God may have had spiritual opposition, but not spiritual warfare. Probably, because they had no spiritual weapons. Therefore, God divinely fought spiritual battles in their behalf, as in 2 Kings 19:35.
Since the day of Pentecost, born-again believers, [New Testament saints] have been equipped with spiritual weapons in order to enter into spiritual warfare. (2 Cor. 10: 3-5; Eph. 6:10-17)
We have the Holy Spirit indwelling us, we have the word of God, we have the name, Jesus, and faith, as well as ministering spirits [holy angels] Hebrews 1:14. All of such are spiritual weapons for our warfare.
God has made us such a great part of His plan, His kingdom and purpose, that we are laborers together with him. (1 Cor. 3:9)
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Cor. 15:58) KJV
The enemy is not physical, the battle is not physical; [for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places]. (Ephesians 6:12)
There we have it, the real battle, is in the realm of the spirit. Adam and Eve didn’t know that; so Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent, things which they could see with their physical eyes, while the invisible entity worked behind the scenes, influencing those precious creatures of God. (Gen. 3:12,13)
NO PROBLEM! If we obey God; but do we really believe His word?
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; in My name they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (Mk. 16: 17,18)
Do we believe that, do we practice His word? I don’t practice picking up snakes, but I do claim the faith to do whatever the Bible says I can do, as I am led by the Holy Spirit. It is being led by the Spirit of God, that proves I am a son of God. (Rom. 8:14) ( keep the faith, and keep it simple.)
*Who was the very first enemy? Revelation 12:9 says, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceived the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him”.
