One overly-quiet night, Heather woke abruptly from a deep, drugged-like sleep. She clutched her chest and fearfully gasped for air as she absorbed the familiarity of the room.
A disturbing, reoccurring dream about her old nemesis, Carol, had surfaced. In the dream, Carol easily removed a baby from Heather's protective arms; then Carol and the baby suddenly vanished.
Heather was frozen and could not call out for help. She was unable to stop Carol. Onlookers in the dream were unaware of Heather's dilemma or Carol's subtle, thieving actions.
Heather was emotionally distressed over this dream. James held her close and tried to reassure her, “Heather, nothing will happen to our child,” he whispered. “I am always watching you. Our family and friends are as close to you as mother hens.”
"James," Heather said smiling faintly, and gently touching his chin, "even a mother hen can't always protect her chicks from a resolute hawk."
It helped Heather to believe, in her heart, God was watching over her. She focused on this thought every moment possible.
She warned James to be vigilant when their child was born. “Remember, James, this child, by the grace of God, is our love for each other.”
James kissed Heather's worried brow and resolved to call her often when he was away on assignment. She began to feel that she was just being an overprotective parent and perhaps a nuisance to James.
Heather was blessed with the luxury of her brother as a confidant during the times her faith was tested. Robert's attentiveness and compassion were especially uplifting. He was the only person who truly listened and understood where Heather's pain originated. This was not just a maternal dream. It was a warning.
Robert acted on his insights by privately enlightening James about Carol’s past.
“James,” Robert said, “Do not feel so confident with Heather or your child. Don’t allow any stranger to take this child out of your sight.”
These words of caution from Robert touched James' heart and he had to rethink his passion of joining the initial the S.I.L.O. crew. Heather and their child replaced any desire James could ever imagine.
Eventually, Heather's haunting dreams; and memories of them, dissolved like a light mist in morning sunlight.
Heather was restored to a bubbly, vibrant, energetic, pregnant woman; anxiously awaiting the birth of her child.
If only she patiently listened to God's loving, insightful words and waited for His direction.

Passion for improving the environment included joining her neighbors in speaking out against a potentially, destructive sand mine project.
