Our willingness to wait on God
Reveals the value we place on the object we’re waiting for!
Excerpt from Dr. Charles Stanley
You can’t lose being obedient to God.
The journey I’m sharing is about the Miracles of God in the lives of two individuals who have sought the will of God in their lives from the beginning to the present. With so many financial discouragements, hardships, and heartaches, -God has always been faithful. Their needs have always been provided; emotionally, spiritually and financially. He is an all knowing and loving Gracious God
Allow me to share the story of Walter and Lea Giesbrecht: It’s a love story under God’s direction
Walter Wiebe Giesbrecht,is the fifth of ten children born to Abram and Maria Giesbrecht, a German Mennonite family, Pioneers of Chaco, Paraguay. He grew up in a Christian home and was taught the importance of holding on to the Biblical values. He continues to live and follow these values as he raises his family today. He has great parents who are loving and God-fearing Christians. His mom always prayed every night by their bedside and always asked their children to know the Lord in a personal way. She was a very hard working woman. Walter’s father was a very hardworking man and a great provider as well. Walter’s mom died from melanoma cancer at an early age in 1985
Walter became a Christian when he was just a teenager during a revival meeting held in Paraguay. He answered the call of the Lord. He opened his heart and received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord. After he became a Christian, he asked the Lord to find him or reveal to him the special girl whom he would marry someday, the person whom He planned for him from the beginning. He specifically wanted to marry a woman who is a Christian, loves the Lord and possibly from Asia
(he was impressed about people from Asia after studying the countries and the people)
Walter wanted God’s will for his lifetime partner and pledged not to date anyone until the revelation from God the girl of his dreams, with God’s blessing come. As time passed, he asked the Lord once again about the woman he was praying about, but there was no answer from the Lord. (Walter was in his early 20’s) Walter continued to wait upon God’s time while working on his own 350 acre farm.
He loved serving the Lord even at a young age. His dream when he was young was to serve God and wanted to work hard so that he can generously give to those in need, the needs of the church, pray for everyone and to visit the sick.( Little did he know that God was preparing him for a special task years later in a foreign land in Armourdale Baptist Church, Kansas City, KS, where he is now holding a position as the Deacon chairman.
Years later, Walter has become a family man who works hard everyday to provide the needs of his family, church and to those in need. He has a serving heart and a generous spirit. While awaiting for the revelation of the Lord, Walter continued to live and work on his farm. He was very involved in his church, The Neuhof Mennonite Church, Chaco, Paraguay.
In 1993, Walter applied to the youth Program of the Mennonite Central Committee, a program for young people from different countries to come to the USA and Canada to live for an entire year with host families. He hoped to be chosen to represents his church. Every year, the Mennonite church in Chaco, Paraguay sends young people to the USA. Usually there were many applicants and they had to undergo an interview process and they were not always guaranteed a chance to go, but on that particular year, Walter was the only one who wished to participate in the program from his home church. Therefore, he was chosen to go. Little did he know, that God was going to reveal to him the special person God had for him. He wrote: “Six years ago, it was my wish to go to the United States. But, I really didn’t think it would happen. During the seven months of waiting, I thought a lot about being a trainee. I knew everything would be new and I couldn’t speak English. I am little scared but I am willing to go if chosen.”
It was through the MCC International Visitor Program held in the USA, where God’s revelation of a perfect match that was designed to last a long time would be revealed.
Two people will soon meet in God’s providential time and will!
