The book entitled ‘ Truth That Will Set You Free’’ and sub-titled ‘’Prophesies Completed and Yet To Come’’ by John D. Haffenden guides you towards knowing the truth, thus understanding God’s full intent, meaning and purpose of His Holy Scriptures.
The Holy Scriptures was given a very revealing name by God. He called it ‘’The Sword of the Spirit’’. It is clearly seen therefore that to access and to benefit from this sword (God’s Holy Scriptures) we must allow the Holy Spirit to function as intended.
Many that have not the Holy Spirit of almighty God the Creator do not nor can they fully understand the truth and God’s intent. Without The Holy Spirit, one is in danger of wondering off into imaginations and interpretations which are completely erroneous. This is a very dangerous condition to be in. If you do not know God’s intent and truth, you can never accept it and be set free.
To know the truth that truly sets you free and saves is absolutely imperative for salvation and eternal life. I have been completely disappointed and deeply saddened to witness so many so called Christians not being able to properly understand and express God’s Word. Even the most fundamental and important doctrines of God’s gracious salvation were beyond their understanding. It became very apparent that they did not have the illumination of the Holy Spirit. Those that have been truly born of the Holy Spirit (‘’Born Again’’) have the Holy Spirit within and are illuminated.
At one time back in history, everyone believed that the world was flat. Many feared that if you travelled too far, that you would fall off into empty space. At that time they were living in a completely falsely imagined world and did not possess or live in the truth about the world they lived in. It was only after the truth was revealed that the world was round, that its inhabitants were able to properly adjust to it and fully appreciate and enjoy it.
Unless the truth is revealed and known to man and until it reigns within them, they have a very strong tendency to wonder off into their own very erroneous imaginations
Another very clear example of man’s erroneous and ignorant imagination right now in this present day and age, is the fact that many believe that all of creation, both the astounding and marvellous heavens and this magnificent earth with all its very complex living creatures including man, simply evolved. How any honest and intelligent person could sincerely accept and believe this is beyond any logical explanation.
There are those that hopelessly and blindly teach and follow ‘’Darwin’s Theory’’, of evolution which is full of lies, deception and man’s foolish imagination. They deny the truth and refuse to accept it. They defiantly and hopelessly wonder in the darkness of lies and deception.
The very great wonders of creation of the universe which we all see is clear evidence of a great God that we can not see. Also the very complex wonders of the human body that each one of us possesses cries out loudly that there is a great Creator. It is very obvious as to why anyone would want to deny the true creator and cling onto such a foolish theory of evolution. To admit and believe in God the Creator one then has to make serious eternal life or death decisions. Like an ostrich they hide themselves in evolution from the truth thinking that it will go away or disappear. They can never be set free unless they accept and abide in the truth.
The foundation of Salvation, Justice, Liberty and Freedom is Truth. If anyone fails to obtain the truth on any subject at all, they will never succeed in it what ever it might be.
What ever profession any person decides to pursue in life, they will not be successful in it unless they possess and function within the truth of that profession.
What we have to realize is that when God created all things, they were all based on their specific and individual truth. All creation is constant and very consistent. The element of chance simply does not exist when determining our source or beginning.
If you have ever taken basic chemistry, you will see that there are various laws that never vary. These laws of chemistry and physics are very constant and unchanging. To be successful in chemistry one must believe and trust these laws, otherwise meet failure. Everything that God created must abide and exist within the truth that God ordained for it. That definitely includes man. As in chemistry when a law is broken failure results.
If you were to declare to the evolutionist that the cars that we see driving about in our cities and countries simply evolved all by themselves, they would treat you as an idiot. They simply do not realize that they believe and follow a much more illogical and foolish theory that has very serious consequences.
The truth will set you free is a wonderful and guaranteed promise made by God Himself. As previously pointed out, one must know the truth to be successful in anything.
It behoves each one of us to sincerely search for and obtain the truth about who are we? What are we doing here on this earth? Where are we eventually going? This book is an attempt to offer illumination on these actual truths as given in God’s Holy Scriptures.
In this book entitled ‘’Truth That Will Set You Free’’ I most sincerely and earnestly waited on The Lord for the illumination of the Holy Spirit. I looked for the witness of the Holy Spirit with my spirit, confirming the intent and meaning of His word. I compared scripture with scripture and rightly divided His word.
My prayers are that this book might be a blessing to each person reading it and that the Lord Jesus Christ and God’s Holy Scriptures will become increasingly ever so precious to you. AMEN.

My prayer for this book is based on Proverbs 22:21: “That I might make thee to know the certainty of the words of truth, that thou mightest be able to answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee.”
I most sincerely hope and pray that in regard to each subject in this book, you will do as the Bereans did. Verify every word in this book with God’s word. It is God’s will that each person should be personally convinced and persuaded.
About the Author
John D. Haffenden was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, in 1931 and was dedicated to God by Pentecostal parents. John attended a Brethren S.S. and later an Ontario Baptist church for most of his young adult life. John is presently a member of a south shore Montreal Pentecostal church.
