The Excitement of the Spiritual Life

Jesus seks my friendship as He does that of all. He says: "I care about you. I take delight in your efforts to care for others. Tell me what you did today." Usually before I go to sleep at night, or during the night if I annot sleep, I proudly list the activities of the day and thank the Lord for the privilege of doing them. In the morning I say, "thank you for the new day." "Lord, I want to give myself to you and walk the road with you. Please send the Holy spirit to take over my life. You have won my heart. I want my life to be about you, not me. I trust that whatever happens, it will bring the good that you have destined." I wonder sometimes what this friendship will be like a million years from now!

A love affair with Jesus? Lovers are anxious to be in each other's presence, giving reassurance of care and concern. They share life, aches, joys, feelings, guit, etc. They are grateful for the sacrifices and efforts on behalf of the other. they are open to a spontaneous bike ride or a stop at Burger King together. They ask: "What can I do for you?" They say, "I give you my heart and myself." They beg: "Forgive me, I forgot to introduce you." They open their self-centeredness safely for examination with each other. Jesus wants to have that level of friendship with us, as He did with his apostles. We naturally crave for deeprer relationship, and will have unrest until it is allowed. God has chosen YOU for a love affair!

Called to be a rebel saint. Most convincing about the faith of the apostles is that after Jesus ascended they gave their lives for Him. Without the burning fire in their hearts they would not have been such witnesses. That bolsters my belief. I think today of Billy Graham, Martin Luther King, Desmond Tutu and other who with a burning purpose in life did not get distracted by minor issues, trivial and petty, but were motivated by a driving force to carry out god's will. Sexual curious questions: What are some benefits of the sexual revolution? Which is of greater value to you: physical bonding, or spiritual? True or false: deep friendship takes more maturity than having sex. What are some virtues of excellent sex? Which would you rather have: a faithful mate of reassuring consolation to you, or, lose your house in a divorce settlement? Can we enjoy our sexuality and have a full life without genital sex? What did Jesus say about love, and how did he demonstate it? What does it mean to sublimate? What does sexuality have to do with an exciting life? Cosmic consciousness is experienced at the Grand Canyon for many by pondering the timelessness and immensity of it as a corridor to eternity. "Be still and know that I am God." My smallness is felt next to this theater of God. The psalmist proclaimed: "Nature is aglow with the glory of God." St. Augustine wrote: "In the end there will only be Christ loving himself." we are and will be in God. the evolution of consciousness is very difficult to grasp because our consciousness is constantly transforming itself. The spiritual realm is always mystery and paradox to us: for example, that the Messiah is both divine and human, a divine God who died as a human on the cross. God's supremacy is guiding the pathway to our destiny. the Mexican poet and mystic, Amado Nervo, in simple powerful imagery sums up the life in God's Spirit. "Alone we are only a spark, but in the spirit we are a fire. Alone we only a string, but in the spirit we are a lyre. Alone we are only an anthill, but in the Spirit we are a mountain. Alone we are only a drop, but in the spirit we are a fountain. Alone we are only a feather, but in the spirit we are a wing. Alone we are only a beggar, but in the Spirit we are a king."
