Authority as an Ambassador
2 Corinthians 5:20a
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
We are ambassadors of Jesus Christ - ambassadors from God. What an honor! Having worked in an American Embassy overseas, I have seen first hand that in the world an ambassador is a direct representative of the President of the United States. He has the authority to speak and act on behalf of the President and the American people, with the full backing and power of the United States of America. As Christ's ambassadors, we have the authority in the name of Jesus Christ to speak and act on behalf of God, with the full backing of Heaven, where we are citizens. But our citizenship is in heaven... (Philippians 3:20a).
As Christ's ambassadors, we come bearing free gifts from our king. To name a few: words of love, acts of compassion, words of knowledge and wisdom, healings, deliverance, and the greatest gift: eternal life. So you see how important the appointment of ambassador is. As ambassadors we are the image of Jesus Christ representing God who sent us - doing the will of the Father and advancing the Kingdom of God on the earth.
Authority as a Minister
2Corinthians 5:18
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
We are ministers of the most high God. We are Ministers motivated by Love. As Ministers we have the authority to lead people to salvation in Jesus Christ. We minister healing to the sick. We minister comfort to the broken hearted. We minister hope to the depressed. We minister deliverance to the oppressed. We minister compassion through tangible help to the poor. As Ministers in the name of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit, by faith we pray for people and see results. Whatever it may be, we are to minister to people's needs and expect supernatural results, in the name of Jesus!
Authority as a Warrior
Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
We are warriors! Only warriors put on armor and carry weapons.
As warriors, we have the authority to wear armor and use weapons to defeat the enemy. 2Corinthians 10:3-4 - For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of this world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We have spiritual weapons to defeat our spiritual enemy, which is Satan and his demons. They have been responsible for every kind of evil on the earth since the beginning of time. We have the power - the authority in the name of Jesus Christ to stop Satan's murdering, stealing and destroying.
As a warrior with our armor on we take up our weapons:
1. Our sword which is God's Word which we confess/speak out our mouth with authority and confidence, knowing that God backs his Word which is supernatural. It is alive, active and sharper than a double-edged sword. The Word spoken in faith does not return void.
2. Our shield which is our faith. We lift our shield of faith and we take our stand, and we don't back down...because we know that God honors our faith and he will never forsake or leave us!
3. The name of Jesus. We have been given the name of Jesus to command and take authority over Satan. Jesus is the name above all names and when you know who you are in Christ and use it with authority, the enemy has to obey you.
4. Prayer / tongues prayer language. Pray and intercede in the spirit and do battle as angels fight on our behalf. We can pray in the spirit for our own situations, or we can intercede and pray in tongues and stand in the gap for others under attack from Satan. By standing in the gap we put ourselves in-between the enemy and the person(s). We raise our sword of the spirit and our shield of faith with our armor on. Through our intercession we take our stand and we fight until we have the victory through Jesus Christ.

About the Author
