The Man: You can’t separate the man from the message. This chapter deals with the preparations and surrender that a true God-called preacher must be willing to endure. Drawing from Paul’s pattern to the Thessalonians, Dr. Peacock deals with issues like confrontation, preaching for results, and discouragement. The Message: God has a message He wants to be imparted to the congregation each Sunday. This chapter explains what biblical preaching is and how to find the right message. Dr. Peacock tackles things like harsh preaching, outward conformity, and preaching on “isms.” He also deals with what to keep out of the pulpit. The Ministry: A biblical ministry is built on the proper foundation: the Lord Jesus Christ. This final chapter addresses many concerns in the ministry. Dr. Peacock offers his advice and biblical explanation for things like when to start a church, the appearance of church facilities, how to treat visitors, missions, street preaching, counseling, and much more.

About the Author

Dr. David Peacock (BD, ThM, ThD) has been around the ministry all of his life. His father, Ben Peacock, was a Baptist pastor and evangelist. It was his father who led him to the Lord at age seven. He was not always in the ministry however. His original career was in law enforcement, one in which he made the rank of captain at the Jacksonville sheriff’s office. In 1992 he founded Bible Believers Baptist Church and eventually left his position at the sheriff’s office to pastor full time. Dr. Peacock is also the president of the Bible Doctrine Institute, a correspondence seminary designed to train men in the Bible and biblical preaching.

"A brilliantly prepared exegesis of the experiences of any Man that God calls to do ?the work of the ministry?. I see this book that I have just finished reading on March 8, 2014. The Man The Message The Ministry? as a well thought out definitive overture of the plowing of the fallow ground to the breaking up of the hardness of the heart that a man goes through on Gods wheel fashioned by the ?master? potter. A very timely God send!
I am a man that can relate to every sentence in this well thought out grammatical veneer. I see the author?s desire come out almost as if he is sitting with you in your storm girding himself as Christ to wash your feet. I see or feel no ?more condemnation? when I read this book. (?For I am condemned already?) Therefore I believe this book to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. As the fear of man?s snare that is ?subtly?and slowly tightly cutting off the spiritual circulation to the minister one can often feel. One will literally acknowledge the pain withdraw as he reads. The PTSD if you will ?Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? that a Soldier, Pastor, Chaplain, Missionary, Officer, Christian worker, victim or councilor etc. that has it?s prey seduced to the place of self destruction, perhaps even suicide. Sure we are all guilty of sin but once you have sinned their is NO ONE that you can trust to give you real help. Except Jesus through the comfort of the Holy Spirit. The balm of eye salve or medicine that will begin to fix the addiction (what ever the sin) that has overtime wrapped the chains of darkness around the Sheep?s heart for the wolf to be the devourer at his will.
To many books written by ?Bible Believers? dare to write without filling the pages with ?cut and paste? quotes from the scripture in fear of it not being acceptable in that ?camp? or just to fill the pages with words to count for a thesis. I can read the Bible and get quotes, but I cannot get the modern experiences of wisdom and instruction from the ?Man that Gods

Being called, much like Salvation, has nothing to do with the ""life of bliss"" so many have unfortunately promised the new believer these days. The fact is that it's a WAR. It's great and even a bit unnerving to feel that call to the ministry. Praise God we have men like himself with such conviction and experience willing to share it for all to benefit and grow from for many generations to come. Lord willing.
