STOP
The STOP sign is a common item in our midst. You find them in the city, the villages, and the countryside. We all know the meaning of the STOP sign. It's pretty obvious. One must stop the vehicle one is operating and wait for the safe time to proceed. I was thinking about the stop sign and an acronym came to mind. S=Stop T=To O=Offer P=Praise
What if every time we came to a STOP sign we thought of this acronym and said to ourselves, "Stop to Offer Praise". Stop to offer praise to our God. During our business of the day, we need reminders to bring our focus back to our God. We may have our prayer time in the morning, our devotional time or time set aside for reading God's Word; however, we know the importance of talking with our Lord throughout our day. The STOP sign may be just the reminder we need to focus our attention on the Lord. There may not be much time at a STOP sign, just enough time to say "Praise God!" or "Praise the Lord!" Perhaps we would say, "Thank you God, for this day." or "Praise the Lord for His goodness to us!" Our praise to the one and only God, to the God we love is so valuable. The Psalmist stated: "I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth (Psalm 34:1)." The STOP sign can be a tool to give Him praise. Praising God at these times has been a rewarding experience. Praising the Lord brings peace and joy. Think of all the praises that will be offered up in any one day if we observe the Stop to Offer Praise suggestion at every stop sign we encounter. How many stop signs do you come across in one day? Psalms 113:3 "From the rising of the sun to its going down the LORD'S name is to be praised."
