We are all victims of insatiable hunger when what we really need is a closer relationship with God. We should aspire to be closer to God but instead like spoiled children, we spend our energy trying to outsmart God. God walked among us in flesh, demonstrated how to live and encouraged us to follow His example. Man in his vanity would rather replace God than be like Him. Man ignores the essence of God, the spirit He breathed into us in the beginning. Man is in a constant state of hubris against God through his many machinations and self destructive behavior. His inventiveness moves him closer to spiritual emptiness for he believes he needs God less and less. Man advances but toward what? Will it be extinction or perfection? Will his machinations be his undoing? I cannot discern whether his autonomic march, his pursuit of godhood, will lead to bliss or oblivion. My soul must be my main concern.
