THE PRAYOR: ONE WHO PRAYS A Year Long Daily Devotional Journal Exodus 20:2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land slavery.” Prayer: Sacred Heart of Jesus, no matter what I am doing, saying, or listening to, I am committed to you first as the Lord my God. Keep me out of danger. Thank you for bringing my forefathers out of slavery. Amen. Lead me and guide me to keep all things in the proper perspective. Thank you for allowing me to worship you. Amen. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.” Prayer: Most Loving God, when arrogance spreads throughout my character, please help me to worship only you and to teach my children of your goodness and mercy. Thank you for your love of a thousand generations. Amen. I shudder when I hear others do so. Help me to pray for blasphemers. Thank you for guiding me. Amen. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore, the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” Prayer: God our Creator, I do not work on the Sabbath, but in today’s world, Sunday is the Sabbath and nothing stops. Order my steps on the Sabbath that I may worship you in your way. Thank you for a Holy day. The Bible verses and prayers are in keeping with Philippians 4:6—“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
All of the Bible verses were taken from the Holy Bible, New International Version, Women’s Devotional Bible (Zondervan, 1994).
There are 365 Bible verses and prayers that will encourage you to pen your journal of prayers at your pace, whether you write daily or weekly. Make this book last a year or several years by dating and writing when you choose.
Each Bible verse and prayer serves as a prompt to write your personal prayers. The journal writings begin with guide words: Bless, Help me to, Forgive me for, and Thank you for. These guide words keep your meditation spiritual and in keeping with your feelings and needs at that moment.
It works like a daily communication with God, and it takes only a few minutes to read His Word, view a brief prayer of no more than forty words to nudge you to feel his presence and endure the challenges ahead.
Edna, Louise, and Barbara Jean, her grandmother, mother, and aunt, respectively, were her original prayer warriors. They defined The Prayor: One Who Prays continually.

Gwendolyn Carole Tipton, a retiree, writes inspired works from the heart. This devotional journal is her first publication.
She earned her BS and MA degrees from the University of Cincinnati and spent thirty-seven years as part of her profession writing documents and newsletters for the mortgage-lending and commercial-banking industries.
