The pen name used by Tempest Ariel taken from sprite or “airy spirit” in Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Ariel also means a female lion, “lioness of God,” of Jerusalem symbolically.
The Spirit of Poetry author is of American Indian ancestry. She is a Catholic convert, as the first American Indian Saint, beloved Kateri Tekakwitha—the Lily of Mohawk.
