About the Author

I have been writing poetry for many years. I have been published and received Editor's Choice Awards in The National Library of Poetry's Anthology and various other Anthologies (1988-1990). My desire is to write inspirational poetry that touches the heart and soul of everyone. I live in Redlands, California with my husband, Paul. We are affectionately called the "Newlyweds" by all of our family and friends. I am very blessed to have been given the opportunity to share my love for God and His inspiration in my life.

Life has many experiences for all people and each has its' own influences that can bring one to contentment and happiness. This collection of 32 Poems expresses a heartfelt and deep development of the writer's own personal experiences bringing her to a stage in life often never reached by many. Our Lord and Saviour lived on this Earth 33 years, and each year seems somehow woven into each of the Poems written. Donna Thorpe covers such topics in each poem from life's despair to the glorious happiness that can indeed be obtained if one is willing to search deep with one's own Soul and be honest with what the years have brought to fruition. Love of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and His loving care for each of us, are deeply entwined into each line of every Poem in this collection.

One of my favorite verses comes from the Poem entitled ""Hands to Heaven"" with the last verse ending with (and I quote),

""Our hands raise toward Heaven,
To praise and glorify Thee.
Every day in every way,
We live to worship Thee.""

A musical quality accompanies many of the poems, and as I read them, the lines become as the beauty of a song.
Biblical quotations are given for many of the poems, along with unique illustrations to enhance the beauty of holding a book and enjoying not only the poetry, but also the artistic enhancements relating to many of the Poems that are included in this Volume of the journey of a Soul from darkness to light as noted in the title.

I read the book twice in one sitting, and have often found myself picking it up again and again to re-read and find another revealing aspect of a journey that brings out both the sadness and joy of life as we experience it from day to day and year to year.
