About the Author
Howard D. Kurland, MD, is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Life Fellow of the Pan American Medical Association, and Fellow of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine. He served as LCDR, US Navy Medical Corps, and as chief of service, Department of Psychiatry and Neurology, Veterans Administration Research Hospital, Chicago. He also served as associate professor of neurology and associate professor of psychiatry at Northwestern University Medical School. He was a founding member of the board of directors of the Institute for Advancement of Prosthetics, and a director of the Barr Foundation. Dr. Kurland has received perennial recognition as one of America’s Top Psychiatrists by the Consumers Research Council of America. Dr. Kurland was selected as a charter member of Peer-Reviewed Physicians. He was also selected as a top doctor in the Global Directory of Who’s Who.
