He deprives of intelligence the chiefs of the earth's people and makes them wander in a pathless waste. Job 12:24 NASB. God knows when you are ready for the next phase of life. At times, you may not feel ready. Self doubt pertaining to your talent and abilities can rob you of success. All of a sudden, you remember past mistakes and faults; you listen to those predicting your failure, planning your demise. Do not fall for the trap! Claim God's promises and move forward in faith. God is not a coward. If you recoil in fear, hesitating to take the next step, know that you are preventing your blessings from unfolding. You are communicating a lack of trust and the need to repeat the lessons of the past.
This is exactly what happened to the Israelites standing on the edge of Caanan. Upon hearing the report of the ten spies, Israel shrank from possessing the land. Only two spies encouraged the nation to claim God's promises. As a result, God directed Israel to spend the next forty years roaming the wilderness, retracing their steps. Have you passed on an opportunity because you allowed negative self-talk and doubt to convince you of your shortcomings? Do not accept the judgment of others as reasons preventing you from moving forward in life. Talk to God, asking Him if this is the right time and place to move forward. Wait for His answer. Prepare yourself to lay hold of your blessings with courage and confidence.
Prayer: Dear Father, You are physically with me, protecting and guiding me when I thought I needed no protection. Help me to be a source of inspiration to others. Amen.
Activity: Read Deuteronomy 1:30-32. Reflect upon the situations in life you thought were insurmountable. How did God provide for you? How can you use this lesson to trust God implicitly to guide you through life's experiences? What lessons can be learned through the wandering periods of your life?
