A FIRST TIME REQUEST
Matthew 9:18
18 As Jesus was saying this, the leader of a synagogue came and knelt down before him. “My daughter has just died,” he said, “but you can bring her back to life again if you just come and lay your hand upon her.”
In Matthew Chapter 8, Jesus went around doing good and healing all manner of sicknesses and casting out demons. In the next chapter, we see the leader of the synagogue ask for his daughter to be brought back to life. In the order the Word was written in Matthew, this is the first time someone asked for the dead to be raised and it may have been the first time anyone ever asked for Jesus to raise the dead. The man first worshipped God by kneeling down before Him and then made his request known unto our Lord and Saviour, Our redeemer.
That was a move of faith never done, a first-timer. There may be many things you have never asked for e.g. for all the souls in your church to be converted, for your office to pray together daily, for your President to be Born again, to be the one to give the most to "needy" Sudan (Darfour), to be able to make Christmas have its true meaning in the lives of others and so many other firsts' that the Holy Spirit may be convicting you of. There are also physical requests such as owning an estate, owning an airplane, building a church sanctuary etc.
Take out time to think of those first-timers and take your petition to Our Lord God Almighty, whom nothing is to difficult for and let Him show Himself strong. The leader of the synagogue believed and ask. Believe also and ask God. Testify to His goodness and give Him all the Glory as He does great and mighty things for you.
You may not have asked Jesus to come into your life, that is a first-timer request, if the Holy Spirit is convicting you, worship Him and confess your sins before Him. Ask Him to wash you clean of your iniquities and write your name in the book of life. That is the greatest miracle you could ever receive. May God keep you even unto the day of the Lord.
