INTRODUCTION
Have you ever heard a voice; looked around to see who was speaking and to whom; and realized no one else was around? That is what happened to me.
The day began with the alarm clock going off at 6:00 a.m. just as so many more mornings had begun the past several years since my employment with the City had ended. In an effort to keep my weight under control and stay in good physical shape I had begun to walk daily in my neighborhood each morning.
Not being a morning person, I slowly drug myself out of bed, reached over for my comfy walking apparel and prepared for my morning walk. As I bent over to tie my walking shoes, I wondered if all this walking was worth it. But, I knew down in my heart it was more than just the exercise that drove me up each morning. This was my chance to spend time talking and listening to the Lord. It was during this time each morning He always seemed so close and when I could give Him my undivided attention.
As I hit the pavement that morning, I thought what a beautiful day it was going to be. The sun was just beginning to break through, a cool breeze was blowing and no one else was around yet but me and the Lord. I thanked Him for such a beautiful day and walked on in silence but in His presence. That is when I heard it.
“I want you to write a book!”
I looked around to see who He was talking to and realized no one else was around. Surely He was not talking to me. I walked on and then once again, “I want you to write a book!”
To my surprise, I yelled, “WHO ME!”
He said, “Yes, You”.
I began to make excuses. “Lord, you know I can’t write. English has always been my worst subject. No one is interested in what I have to say. Lord, I just can’t do that. I’m seventy-two years old.” He did not argue with me as we walked on in silence but by the time my feet hit my front porch after that morning walk, I knew I had a book to write.

About the Author
Donald Spatafora was born in Monroe, Louisiana, where he resided until the age of seventy-four. His move to Texas began a new adventure for him when he finally answered God's call to write a book. He and his wife, Ann, are the parents of five grown daughters.
