I had run that moment, that very moment when we would have to return AJ through my head over and over again thousands of times. I'm sure this was in a steep effort to prepare myself for that moment. None of it worked. I could not have seen this wave of emotion coming, even if I had tried. We knew we had 24 hours. But 24 hours in theory is different than 20 some hours with your child in your arms. I had bonded my with child and had no choice but to leave him. What kind of mother does that, I asked myself.
