Reflection is not something we usually seek to do, but when put into situations that bring this about, we can be catapulted into a number of past happenings (some of which we’d even rather forget). It can be a good thing when we call to mind, perhaps, growing up with family and friends with whom we felt safe, secure, and happy. It can promote sadness when we reflect on the memory of loved ones who’ve passed on into an eternal dwelling place while wishing they were still with us. Occasionally, it can even signal feelings of unrest or anxiety, as in the case of individuals who’ve witnessed the untimely death of someone close to them. Have you ever reflected on some funny moments? You could be sitting at a meal by yourself or with other family members when someone says something that reminded you of something that happened in the past that might not have been funny then, but all of a sudden, you roar with laughter about the incident. Parents, especially mothers, often have the I-can’t-believe-it periods of reflection. That is, when their children have all of a sudden gone from toddler to adolescent to teen to adulthood in, what seemed to have been, “the twinkling of an eye.”
Whatever the reason, we all have moments of reflection. Just remember that they do come, and they will come whether or not we expect or want them to.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. (Psalm 103: 2)

Our God is awesome to behold!
He makes us well when we are sick.
He revives dead souls and makes them quick.
He lifts our spirits out of despair
Letting us know how much He does care.
He gives us wisdom to decide
What’s best for us though driven and tried.
He puts our minds at perfect peace
Causing Satan’s nagging to finally cease.
He awakens us after a restless night
Putting our wandering fears to flight.
He understands that we are only dirt
And how our minds can be so easily hurt.
Therefore, He continues to pave the way
And all that we need to do is pray
Recognizing Him as the only true God
When life’s disappointments become increasingly hard.
He admonishes us to keep our eyes on Him
And do not things merely on a whim.
“Wait on God,” the psalmist has said.
For He provides for us our daily bread.

About the Book
We must learn to look beyond the mirrors of our lives not only to view the outward appearance of what seems to be but with a deep meditation that allows God to speak to us in ways that exalt His glory in our three dimensional world.
Rarely are reflections planned; instead, they are usually triggered by stimuli such as smells, songs, words, or visuals. Time and again, we pause to ponder about a variety of issues and things that evoke emotions that may range from silliness to self-pity. More often than not, these are the things that shape and mold our lives.
About the Author
Award-winning poet Mary Wyatt Byers, is a resident of Charlottesville, Virginia. She is married and has two children. Among her poetic accolades, she has received numerous certificates of appreciation for her participation in the World of Poetry contests (Sacramento, California) in the past (1987-91).
Three of her poems have been published by the National Library of Poetry Organization in its poetry anthologies entitled Whispers in the Wind, Best Poems of 1995, and Best Poems of 1996. She received the Editor’s Choice Award for several of her entries in the National Library of Poetry contests (1993-96).
Mary has had one play and four volumes of poems copyrighted since 1991. She is the author of Seasons of Life: Perspective, her first Christian poetry book, published during the spring of 2010.
