About the Book

This is a story of love, courage, and faith; a story of how a young boy, Cameron, and his best friend, a faithful dog named Bones, find themselves being tossed overboard from a tourist ship at sea. Alone, fighting the ocean waves, they eventually find themselves stranded on a deserted island. Standing quietly beside Bones, Cameron remembers what he had been taught. He could hear the voice of his beloved grandmother, Honey, telling him, “When feeling lost, pray. But most of all, keep your faith.” It was his father who had taught him survival skills. These lessons, plus the feeling that others were praying for him, gave him comfort and courage; he and Bones would indeed get off the island. But first they must face the trials of finding food, the challenge of building shelter. Then they begin to search the island for a way off, only to fall into a cave. It is there they discover an amazing, hidden secret.

About the Author

Author: Billie Sullivan

Billie loves adventure herself. She left an urban life in Colorado Springs (CO) in the '70s to live on a farm in a rural area in Western Arkansas in the 70's. "I wanted my three daughters to dig their toes in dirt and play outdoors where it was safe," she explained, "and not on the concrete city sidewalks where I grew up." Her new life in Arkansas was nothing short of an adventure: raising three little girls; tending to chickens, cows and horses; and maintaining a big garden. "There was never a dull moment for me and my family in 'The Natural State' ," Billie noted.

Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Billie has had several businesses of her own including a fudge shop, a tanning salon, and an old fashioned general store that she called Old Town Mercantile. When she wasn't assisting customers, she spent a lot of her quiet times writing small stories, poems and songs. She always had -and still does have- a pen ready to write down important life lessons learned.

Billie's love for God and a willingness to serve Him has seen her serving in several positions through her 30-plus years in the ministry. One such position was heading up a youth ministry. Her love for teaching young children and teens became a big part of her life. Her home was always open to young people. She explained, "I loved listening to them and allowing them to express themselves in their way."

One of her greatest adventures was spending time in Israel. "It was an experience that stays with you always," she said excitingly. "To walk the same paths, the same streets that Jesus walked is joyfully unforgettable."

After her daughters were grown and started their own lives, she was blessed with three granddaughters and one handsome grandson. Billie quipped, "That grandson of mine never stood a chance with all those girls". But he overcame the odds. It is through him that this story was born. It is his imagination and gift of making stories come alive that gives this book its energy. This book is dedicated to Cameron for that amazing imagination and his love for others. This book is a "thank you" to Cameron for all the joy he has brought to this family of women. It is Billie's way of saying, "Honey loves you, Cameron."

Billie has always said, "There is a love inside each of us for our children and a special kind of love for grandchildren. There is nothing like it. That love is what gives us an eternal hope for a grand future."

After living on that farm for more than three decades, life took a turn of sorrow and tribulations for Billie. She soon found herself moving to a little touristy town in Northwest Arkansas where she lives now. She laments, "I find myself so often dreaming of that trusting young girl in love, moving from the city to the country to start a new life and loving every minute of it, always looking for that next adventure... never realizing she would someday be sitting down to write -and then share- a little bit about her life's story."

I am looking forward to writing more books, Billie concluded; Life has been a journey with its ups and downs, sadness and grief, laughter and tears of joy. I have finally taken a deep breathe and let it out. I can now freely say, "It is all well with my soul."
