“YAWN”...Lexis almost jumped out of her fur. It was Maggie, the glorious hippo, waking up from her afternoon nap by the pond. “Hello, Lexis, did I scare you?” “Not enough,” said Lexis, “I still (hiccup) have the hiccups.” Maggie shook the water out of her ears and said “Do you want to share a pumpkin with me? Maybe that will get rid of those hiccups.” Lexis loved the idea of eating a pumpkin, so she said “Why not?” As the two friends chomped, and spit out the seeds, suddenly, Lexis loudly hiccupped. “Here I go again.” and without saying another word, she just kept walking. “

About the Book
Lexis has eaten too many hiccup berries and needs the help of her friends to find a cure. Walk through the jungle with her to see how her friends help her solve her hiccupping problem.
About the Author
Janelle Martin resides in Cleveland, Tennessee. She grew up in a family of great storytellers, and her preschool students often ask her to tell stories. Her ability to translate any teachable moment into a story was inherited from her grandfather who, in her opinion, was the greatest storyteller ever. In addition to teaching preschool, Janelle also is involved in her church music program, teaching children’s choir, playing handbells, singing in the choir and ensembles, and occasionally participating in drama productions. Janelle is also a member of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Chorus and the Tennessee Ladies Chorale. She and her husband, Dana, have two children and five grandchildren.
