What We Need Now...In the preamble of our Declaration of Independence: circa 1776, we read, "When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them..."
"We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
(Footnote: "The laws of nature" is the will of God revealed in creation and the conscience of man."The laws of nature's God" is the will of God revealed in the Scriptures.)
You might be thinking wow, this is a lot of God talk for a community newspaper. The point is, it has been well over a century since the progressive movement, which is in power today, began secularizing our society.
This being accomplished through a thorough God neutralization or in most cases a complete God extirpation from society. Any mention of God outside the four walls of the local church is regarded as excessive.
But as Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family says in the introduction to the must see Biblical worldview series called The Truth Project. The world is divided into two camps. Very simply, one that believes that "God is", and one that believes that "God is not". And, this admittedly, is an age old antagonism.
The problem today is, we have a dangerous third camp that has arisen. One that openly admits that "God is", but leads, acts and lives life, like "God is not". It takes a discerning populace to see through this thin veil of deception.
The leader who seeks to be elected or appointed into a position of leadership by perpetrating this ruse, overlooks some very negative unintended consequences in their future, (our future if we elect or appoint them).
Symptoms of bad or un-Godly government include the abundance of confusion, increased dependency to the state, and ultimately, poverty on every level. And are motivated by the Kantian-Hegelian notion that the state is God walking on earth.
Good or Godly government on the other hand, produces order, increases personal initiative, and leads ultimately to exponential increases in productivity. And understands clearly that God is God and not civil government.
There is a quote inscribed on the walls of the Jefferson memorial in Washington D. C. by Thomas Jefferson. Mister 1,2,3 according to the D.C. tour guides. 1st Secretary of State, 2nd Vice President and 3rd President of the U. S. Where he issues a very insightful warning to the future generations.
"God who gave us life, gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever."
(Note: Contrary to Justice Black's opinion in the 1947 Supreme Court's Everson Case, the separation of church and state quote comment made by Jefferson in a 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptists was to assure them, that here in the U.S., there would be no state sponsored church, like the Church of England, this being a fresh concern in the minds of the colonists, having just secured their freedom in civil government, as well as religion.)
It has been said that the Democrats have the wrong ideas, but the right motivation. Compassion being the right motivation, but using the civil government to facilitate it, the wrong ideas. (See the bulging Health and Human Services budget, 45% of our current state budget.)
And the Republicans have the right ideas, but the wrong motivations. The right ideas being markets should be free to succeed or fail without bureaucratic intrusion. The wrong motivation in no systemic preventions for run-away greed and avarice. Also abuses periodically of the poor and underprivileged.
What we need now... are leaders who have the right ideas and the right motivations. These leaders ideally would believe and act like "God is". That our liberties and freedoms are a gift from Him. And will help return our land to Godly greatness once again!
