Chapter 15
The City of Light (New Jerusalem, Heaven)
Revelations 21:2
Then I, John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
While the CICU doctors and nursing staff fought desperately to save my life, I was witnessing first hand the Glory of Heaven.
To say this experience was amazing is a weak understatement. Nothing so powerful, so beautiful, so meaningful has happened to me before or after. I was filled with a sense of knowing.
I knew exactly where I was and what had happened to my old body. The Holy Spirit was coaching me, every inch of the way.
The Holy Spirit told me, I was on the other side of the threshold in Heaven, my old body had passed and I now had a new perfect body.
Planet earth and the things of that world were becoming a distant memory.
I saw what I called, at the time, The City of Light. I was corrected in mid thought; this is The New Jerusalem or The City of Heaven. It is the dwelling place of God.
Complete joy washed over me, a joy unimagined. I felt free, unfettered, and completely aware of the world and universe and everything around me. I felt no worry, no rush, and most of all, a feeling of wellness, complete wellness, filled me.
I was communicating with the Holy Spirit and information was simply given to me, one spirit to another. There was no audible voice of great authority as you might imagine.
I could think for myself and I seemed to have a free will.
There was a horizon and off in the far distance was this beautiful city radiating with brilliant light, more beautiful than I can explain.
The light radiating from the city was made up of brilliant pastel colors, similar to neon but much more brilliant, like nothing here on earth. The light seemed to be predominately yellow.
The city was so beautiful, so radiant, such a positive light flow, and I remember thinking, how beautiful, how can this possibly be? I was immediately told, while I was in mid thought, that Jesus was the light and he was pure perfection and the light was pure and perfect.
It was drawing me closer and I knew where I was, I was on my way to The City of Heaven. I had arrived, my race had been run and my journey was almost over. I was being drawn forward toward the city,
I did not feel as if I were being escorted by anyone or anything but was aware that I was progressing onward toward the city.
I remember looking for the Gates to The City of Heaven but could not make out anything that looked like a gate or an entrance. I was too far away.
I remember the first time I saw the Rocky Mountains and recall how close they looked from so far away. We drove for hours before we actually reached the foothills and base of the mountains.
My wife gave me a gift of a hot air balloon ride for my birthday several years before and the movement experienced during that ride was similar to my trip toward The City of Light. You are moving along without any sensation of movement, just a gentle float in the direction of a light breeze.
By nature, I tend to be impatient and this occasion was proving to be typical. I wanted to get to the city faster. The Holy Spirit either read my mind again or sensed my feelings because I was not aware of any thoughts of impatience. Again, I was coached about time. The Spirit said,” There is no time or anything to mark the passing of time in Heaven.”
This comment was entirely preemptive and without warning.
I was so amazed by the wisdom and mind reading of my personal coach; it was like you didn’t even need to think. A person could become so lazy and dependent.
Amos 4:13
13 For behold,
He who forms mountains,
And creates the wind,
Who declares to man what his thought is,
And makes the morning darkness,
Who treads the high places of the earth—
The LORD God of hosts is His name.
Chapter 16
A Chorus of Prayer
2 Chronicles 30:26-27
26 So there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem. 27 Then the priests, the Levites, arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard; and their prayer came up to His holy dwelling place, to heaven.
A huge chorus of prayer began to reach me. Voices, hundreds of thousands of voices, joined together until I thought I was hearing one big roar. It was impossible to hear any one voice because there were thousands of prayers making their way toward the city.
I heard different pitches, male, female, young, old, all languages, many weeping in the spirit as they prayed but they all prayed with great conviction from their hearts.
As the sound intensified, I struggled to hear but could only catch a word now and then. Some were moving toward the city at the same pace as I, some were slower and others faster, but the prayers were moving constantly toward the city in untold numbers.
The Holy Spirit came to me again, ”These are the prayers of the saints still on earth. A great number of people are praying for you, in this very moment.”
So many people believe that prayer is redundant and that God’s will ultimately prevail, so why pray? God’s will always prevails, however, it is so important to pray, I am convinced that if no one had been praying for me on December 25, 2012, I would not be writing this story today. I have to believe that our prayers can change the will of God. If prayer were not important to God why did I hear so many prayers radiating toward heaven?
Pray and praise God always in all things. Pray from your heart and ask for your needs to be met. Praise the one and only God of the universe, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
