We must not allow anything hinder us and take the place of God in our lives for He must always have the first and final say. Anything that takes priority in our lives takes the place of God and becomes our god and the Bible clearly states in Exodus 34:14 (CEV) that “I demand your complete loyalty—you must not worship any other god!”
I remember receiving divine inspiration and instruction to write Christian books in 2009. Writing was not anything I’d ever considered doing, but I remember many years back that a prophecy was given that I would write. When the nudge to write came despite the fact that writing wasn’t ever a dream, never considered, not in the plan and not even an interest then, I knew clearly inside me that my not complying regardless all my ‘good enough reasons’ will mean disobeying the Spirit of God and falling God. I considered by loving relationship with God and knew I could not play defiant to Him. I certainly did not want any regret and recognise the fact that I serve a God whose plans for me should supersede mine, considering all these, I jolted myself to action (Colossians 4:17 “Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.”) and I began to write. I settled it in my heart that I had NO CHOICE but to start to write. I began to write, God faithfully was available all along the way with me each step of writing supplying divine help and inspiration, I finished the first book and again the second book, I amazed myself when at the end of 2009 I had two books published. Since then, I have written a book each year by God’s grace. According to the Word in Psalm 138:8 “The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.” God has actualised these words each step of my writing assignment and interestingly today, I can now say I am loving and enjoying writing as one of the things I now do, a part of me which obedience allowed God develop in me, proving the His Word in Luke 1:37 in this situation truly that truly nothing is impossible with God. His Word also says in Isaiah 55:6 “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him (act in response) while he is near;” which was the case for me, bringing to light that when we act at the right time, we access the God-result for our right and timely move.
Be quick to obey. Response and action required by you may be tied to a timed blessing for you or linked for someone’s benefit. In essence we must at all times be responsive in carrying out God’s Word for God’s fulfilment plan and purposes that may be known or unknown to us.
Man has a maker and his Maker is God, who designed each man with an intention for His a particular purpose. No man is an accident. With God, there is a reason for every man. God, man’s Designer when He designed man had a purpose for His creation and would have His creation (His design) operate according to His direction through compliance (obedience) with plan so that the purpose for this creation of God is made achievable and is attained. As God’s creation, we only thrive well by His Word. Matthew 4:4 “...Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
Obedience from the word obey which means to comply with, to submit to, to act upon, and to adhere to. To be obedient is to observance to direction, order, instructions, and respect for Authority etc. Obedience involves aligning with God’s plan and purposes, keeping a focus on what is to be done, maintaining composure through doing God’s will regardless of any circumstance till God’s plan and purposes be established. It involves making sacrificial wise choices. It is when God’s purpose for our lives is done and established that we fulfilled. That is when we walk and operate according to original design otherwise divine design or destiny unfulfilled.
Obedience makes God’s Word effective in our lives. Obeying God puts us over in life as we walk in line, in form and in tune with God in fulfilling His intent for our lives as individuals. Essentially Our love for God must compel our obedience. Our spirits must constantly be tuned to God, willing and ready to respond in line with God’s will. Apostle Paul testifies in Hebrews 6:5 that he has tasted the good Word of God. It is by doing God’s Word, written for us or spoken to us that we can derive Its taste and partake of Its benefit.
The venerable Hymn on obedience says:
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word
What a glory He sheds on our ways
When we do His goodwill
He abides with us still
And with all whom we trust and obey
Trust and obey
For there is no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey.
