Rooted and Grounded

Excerpt from Chapter 3: Assurance of Not Falling From the Faith.

As an evangelist, I often come into contact with many unbelievers, well convicted by the Spirit of God after a crusade, open air service or at a church service. At the end of it, many of them do not surrender to the Lord. Regrettably, one of the main excuses that they make is that they are afraid to make a commitment lest they fall.

In the Christian circle it is different. Everybody has made a decision to serve God but there is still a huge problem—believers keep on falling from the grace of God. Have you ever wondered why? There are many fundamental reasons this is happening and reoccurring.

1. Is this a message taught in the church regularly?
2. Does the Christian know what precautionary measures to take to avoid this catastrophe?
3. Does the pastor take time to counsel the believer?
4. What other support does the church offer in this regard?

These are concerns for every believer, in particular, pastors. God has given pastors the mandate to feed his flock, his sheep and lamb. (John 21:17-17). A minister’s job is to teach the people of God the doctrines of the Bible. Prepare spiritual food for everyone no matter the state, case or circumstance. Serve this food according to the weak, the not so weak, and even the strong. Serve it personally, in small groups and sometimes as a congregation.

I am very saddened by the situation in the church to know how many believers who are constantly living in sin. Some of them have created a new doctrine to justify themselves and this misconception is dangerous.

For a just man falleth seven times and riseth up again. (Proverbs 24:16).

My people, do not twist the word of God to make you feel good. God never intends for us to sink into sin. In the book of 1 John 3:6-9, God made it abundantly clear that as believers we should not continue or practice sin. We should not live under the power and dominion of sin. If we do, we are of the devil.
