LORD I’M STRUGGLING HERE
Oh Abba father, I am struggling here Even now as I speak I feel so weak As I struggle in my mind Wrong thoughts I rewind Sometimes when I pray I don’t know what to say Frustrated, confused! A child of God, I cannot lose. Though I’m discouraged With doubts and fears; Struggling again, But my soul is full aware: This battle is the Lord’s He has already won the fight This war may go on But I see victory in sight So in the midst of adversity And beyond my despair I know my God is always here To silence the enemy, To conqueror And control My heart, my mind, My body, my soul So perhaps deep inside Some struggles must ensue For the right to your mind Or who you should choose, Plead the blood of Jesus It has strength and power For when the enemy sees the blood He runs for cover

About the Book
This book of poems was written to encourage the body of Christ, “to walk by faith not by sight”. I had to encourage myself in the Lord and trust God when I could not trace Him.
After forty years of being a slave to the wishes of Masters Fear and Doubt, blinded to the Truth and tired of a life that was neither Spirit-filled nor Spirit-led, I purposely went seeking God for a deeper, more meaningful relationship.
This led to spiritual warfare! I was attacked and threatened; accusations of all sorts were hurled at me, leaving me depressed, discouraged, and disappointed. It was a spiritual wrestling match—a war of words between both parties, for I was determined to put my faith in God’s faithfulness rather than succumb to fear and doubt.
I started writing. Everything that was going on in my mind, my body, my spirit, and my soul, I committed to pen and paper while crying out to God for deliverance.
My deliverance came as I wrote—listening to the Word of God, studying, memorizing, and meditating. That was my secret weapon! This gave me courage, boldness and inner strength. I now understand that, we walk by faith and not by sight.
About the Author
Sarah Jane Mackey was born in Moss Town on the island of Exuma, Bahamas. She lives in New Providence with Sidney Mackey, her husband of twenty-five years. They have five children. Encouragement is a way of life for this small town girl. Having gone through many, discouragements, disappointments, and depressions, she had to encourage herself in the Lord, fighting the war of who gets control of her mind. She has been writing poems since 1998. Her themes include: Country, Fathers, Mothers, Friends, Love, Spiritual and Everyday Poems.
