The morning was breaking like eggs in a skillet, all bright and yellow and warm... I sat easy on the bay gelding, my leg curled around the saddle horn, contemplating the circumstances that had brought me to this morning. It's funny how a man often lives unaware of how events and forces, seemingly distant and unrelated, conspire to bring him to a place and time for a certain purpose...right now, I was wishing for some mates of my own to hole up with and wait this trouble out...down that slope, their presence evidenced by the thin trail of smoke marking their fire, lay a half dozen or more armed, tough men with a single purpose - to make this my last day on earth.

A father of three, he currently lives in Keller, Texas, with his wife, Lynn; their two dogs; nine setting hens; and a small flock of goats. Everything he has been or will be he owes to Jesus Christ.
