INTRODUCTION Who is the real minister to those you meet in the workplace? It is not your church pastor; it is, you, a worker earning your livelihood. For you carry the light of Christ in you that is nourished by the Holy Spirit, assisting you to reach out to the needy soul or that soul seeking to know God better. Have you come to a point in your walk with Jesus that you have asked to be His voice and hands to a troubled world? The individual spirit of a hurting person will be seeking God's help, and seeing the light of Christ in you, will be drawn to you. Here are 17 guidelines to help you. These are helpful hints that I learned in my 31 years in such a ministry. (Each of these guidelines will be discussed more thoroughly in the upcoming chapters.) SEVENTEEN GUIDELINES TO BE EFFECTIVE AS A GODLY MINISTER IN YOUR WORKPLACE: 1. To be a minister for God in your workplace you need to ask God to be empowered and used. 2. Pray each morning to be used by God that day and that God will give you a knowing that you have been used. 3. Your role as a minister to persons in your workplace area is passive. You will see someone and say to yourself, “Now there is a person I will tell about Jesus." But in your eagerness to step out in your own power without a directional knowing from God, it will be fruitless. 4. Be ready when the Holy Spirit calls you into action. This can be with a word of knowledge or an urge to act or speak to a person, or it can be that the person inquires of you. 5. Pray and study while asking God to empower you to represent Him in your marketplace where you labor.
