My wife and I had attended this particular church for almost 7 years. This is the same church that I mentioned in the chapter entitled “Wrong pastor for the right job.” I had just developed an evangelism program there that was extremely successful, but very abruptly the pastor pulled the plug on the program and shut us down. I tried to be very respectful to the pastor because after all, it was his vision that I submitted myself under; I asked him respectfully if he would tell me why we had to shut a successful evangelistic ministry down indefinitely. His response was because he felt that the Lord was leading him in another direction. During this time, many people were beginning to leave because he had begun to preach like a literal dictator. We stayed there faithfully for three more long years until the Lord gave us a release to leave in an orderly way. While waiting it out for those remaining three years, I remember one of those years the church literally catching on fire. The fire could be seen for miles because the church was engulfed and totally consumed with fire. It seemed that the entire community of about 300 people came out to watch that church burn on a clear hot spring afternoon. As many members of the church stood outside among the larger crowd of people to watch the entire church burn up, the pastor loudly asked, “My God, where did all these people come from?” Someone yelled out “They’ve been here all along!” Then the pastor said, “Well, I’ve never seen this many before!” Then someone else yelled out louder, “Well this church has never been on fire before either!” Wow, let that sink in a minute. Just something to think about.

About the Author
Evangelist Charles C. Blackshear has ministered the gospel for over 36 years in various places including 10 countries and multiple cities in the US. He is an evangelist with an unquenchable fire and passion for soul winning and seeing the miraculous in operation. Souls have been saved, healed, delivered and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a result of attending his meetings. His ministry has been impacted greatly by Rev. R. W. Shambach as he enrolled in East Texas Bible college in 1981. He has also been greatly influenced by Evangelist Mario Murillo who groomed him to a deeper level of massive soul winning. No one has influence him, however, than that of his pastor and spiritual Father Bishop Dale C. Bronner, whom Charles has known since high school.
