At five o’clock in the afternoon on October 6, 2010, my Mom got a phone call, but this was not an ordinary phone call. She was at work at the time. It was my Dad, calling her to inform her that their daughter,Rebecca, ran away from home. Most people said, “ Hey, she is old enough to make her own decisions,” and honestly, they were right, she is old enough. She was 20 years old when she left. My Dad literally watched his daughter in the process of running away.
I was in my room watching TV at the time, and saw her rush into her room with a black trash bag. She then slammed the bedroom door behind her. I could hear the Chester draws opening and shutting as if she were in a hurry. I did not know what was going on at first, but then, when I saw her leave her bedroom. I knew she was running away. It was like I had a vision, like God showed me what was happening before it happened. I saw Becca holding a suitcase, packing up what she could, and just leaving for good. You know, it is really terrible seeing your sister, that you love, leave the house and you can’t do anything about it.

About the Book
A Path to Healing is about the obstacles that my family and I have gone through. It’s about how my sister’s decisions tore my family apart and how we have tried our hardest to bring us back together. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn’t. This book was my way to healing. I had a lot of anger and unforgiveness in my heart for what my sister did. God had to speak to me and encourage me to write everything that was brothering me down and tell the world what really happened. I felt that if I wrote this story, it would relate to a lot of people. I want to help others and encourage them and tell them that they aren’t the only ones in this world who have been through trauma. There are people who have been through the same situations in their lives. This story focuses on teen decisions and family relationships.
About the Author
Jade is from a small town in California. She is nineteen years old and recently graduated. She started writing her senior year of high school. Jade knows that she still is young, but that doesn’t mean that she hasn’t gone through anything in her life. In the past, she had a lot of unforgiveness and hurt. Jade knows now that God has us go through things to make us stronger. It’s as if he puts us through tests to see what we do. Either we pass the test or fail.
