One day I was pre-paring a meal for my son and I; potatoes was part of the entrée. The outside of this potato was very pretty. I was saying to myself as I was holding it under the faucet washing the dirt away; what a pretty potato. After cleaning it, I proceeded to cut the potato in half, when I finished cutting it, I pulled it apart and the inside of this potato was nothing like that outside. It was black, rotten and just really ugly on the inside.
As I stood there holding one half of the potato in one hand, and the other half in the other hand, the Holy Spirit began to speak to my heart, and say; the inside of some people are just like the inside of this potatoe; black, full of darkness, and some just rotten; as is this potato, not so pleasing to the eye.
The Holy Spirit then said to me, that some peoples inside are dark because they have not the light; they have not, Jesus!
Sometimes life can throw you a hard ball, and if you are not prepared to swing your bat and knock the ball out the park as the Four Time World Series Champion Darryl Strawberry would do; you will hear the umpire say; strike one, strike two, strike three, and you’re out.
After one feels that they have struck out in life, they give up and darkness takes over their inside, their heart becomes empty and love doesn’t live there anymore.
Just as it was with this potato, the outside of its attire was pretty; this potato was dressed up and looking good, very nice looking. But its inside, after shall I say removing the outer attire, was not so pleasing to the eye.
People can be just like this potato, they can dress up the outside to be pleasing to the eye, and one will say, she is very pretty or he is very handsome; they appear very happy and free. But in reality once you have become acquainted with this person, you will find that life has thrown them a hard ball and caused their inside to be without the light; Jesus!
They didn’t do as Brother Darryl Strawberry did; you see he was thrown a hard ball but he kept on swinging his bat and didn’t hear the umpire say, strike one, strike two, strike three and you’re out. No! He would grind his feet in the dirt, wind his bat, pull on the tip of his hat, reposition himself, get a new focus, and knock the ball out of the park. Instead of running around the base, he would simply jog. In other words Brother Darryl kept the faith and kept seeking Jesus for a divine healing, that he would become a new creature in Christ Jesus, as he is today.
Don’t allow darkness to take over your life. Take all of your burdens, heartaches, let downs, disappointments, losses, despairs, and strike outs to Jesus, never let your light go out.
Jesus wants you to be FREE, for He came to set the captives free. (Luke 4:18, Isaiah 61:1-2)
Don’t let your inside become like the inside, of this potato.
Jesus Loves You!
